Friday Favorites – Week 267 – With DIY Home Decor

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! And Happy EARLY Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmas, aunts, kitty and puppy moms…..etc!

Lately I’ve been seeing so many cute home decor items that I’d love to have.  I’ve been wanting a living room makeover for a while, but I just can’t really swing it right now….at least not a makeover as big as I am wanting.  But the next best thing is browsing for ideas online and in stores.  Today I have a few ideas from our bloggy friends; they include some great room decor and some DIY projects. Hope you enjoy!

DIY Orange Sugar Scrubs and Love2Love Frangrances

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day to celebrate, honor, and remember our mom, grandmother, and other special women in our life.  My mom is a wonderful person.  Here’s a recent picture of the two of us:

Jerri and Mom

She’s always there for us and is willing to help her children and grandchildren any way she can.  She constantly sacrifices her time, money (and occasionally her own sanity) and never asks for anything in return.  This is just one reason that I always like to get her something special for Mother’s Day.

When I go shopping for her gift, I run in to 2 problems: First of all, I’m shopping for someone who seems to have everything already.  Secondly, I’m working with a limited budget.  But somehow I always seem to work it out.  Today I’ve got a couple of gift ideas for Mother’s Day that are luxurious AND affordable! DIY Christmas Wall Art and the Dremel® Micro™ 8050

Christmas is in the air!  I visited my local craft store the other day and was blown away by all the decorations!  It makes it very easy to get inspired to create your own holiday decorations and gifts!  A while back, I received the new Dremel® Micro™ 8050.  This rotary tool is perfect for crafters, hobbyists, and DIYers.  It allows you to cut, carve, engrave, sand, grind, sharpen, clean and polish.  The tool comes with a number of attachments for completing these projects, and it is also fully compatible with all other Dremel rotary tools accessories.  And it’s just $89, making it a great buy on a Christmas gift for your favorite DIYer!

When I got my new Dremel, I immediately thought of all the different ways it could be used for home decor projects.  I got my husband involved, as he is the fixer and the tool guy around here.  I told him that I wanted to make some kind of sign or wall art for Christmas.  After a lot of back and forth, we came up with, what I think is, a great collaboration!

DIY Christmas Wall Art

This Christmas craft is a very affordable project.  As you can see in my picture below, I bought several products that I didn’t use in the final product, so in all, the materials actually used in the project add up to around $15 (which includes the paint I can use again later). [Read more…]

5 Favorite Trends in Wall Decor

This spring I’ve been doing a LOT of spring cleaning and decluttering in my house. Now I’m getting ready to change up the decor a bit.  Some things I currently have my eye on include a new bedspread, rugs, curtains, and metal prints wall art.  I’d especially love some new wall art for my living room.  Since I swapped to new and recliner last year, the art I have on the wall clashes a bit with the existing furniture.  Plus, I’d love to get something new, modern, and trendy.  As I’ve been browsing for ideas and products online, I thought it would be fun to share some of the currents trends in wall decor that I love.  Whether you are looking for beautiful paintings, wall plaques, or metal art, the internet has so much to offer! Getting Ready for Gardening Season with Blooming Secrets

Any time we can, we like to work on do it yourself projects to improve our home inside and out. But sometimes I get a little intimidated at the prospects of certain projects.  My biggest fear is that I will start a project and run in to a road block along the way.  Potential road blocks include needing more tools and materials (which means I need to spend more money),  getting in to a point in the project and finding that I don’t know what I’m doing or cannot complete the project,  or “completing” the project but finding that I didn’t get the results I was looking for.

Gardening and landscaping are projects that are quite involved and can be intimidating.  Not only do you have a lot of work to do in the hot sun while you dig in the dirt and carry heavy materials and supplies around, but at the end of the day, you are going to have something that everyone in the neighborhood will be seeing, so of course, you are hoping that it looks perfect. Anyway, after much deliberation, I decided to share some pillows with you!  These not only look like great projects to take on, but the pillows look very trendy and stylish!  Hope you enjoy them!
