I’m very excited to have my puppy girl assistant Shadow helping me out with today’s post! It celebrates something that is very near and dear to Shadow’s heart: Food and Treats! When it comes to her diet, Shadow, can be quite finicky, so we have certain go-to foods and treats that we always give her, but because we love “treating” her, we are always purchasing new products for her to try, and of course, I always welcome the opportunity to let her sample and review new products.

Most recently, Shadow had the chance to try SmartBones®. SmartBones from PetMatrix are a healthy alternative to Rawhide. They are easily digestible and will help your pet to maintain healthy teeth and gums. And because Shadow actually ate them, I know they must taste good too!

Before we learn more about the treats here are a couple of things about rawhide and why you should look for alternatives to rawhide bones and treats. Rawhide is the inner hide from a cow or other animal that has undergone chemical processing to remove hair and other materials. Cats in Motion: Top Tips for Road Trips With Your Fussy and Furry Feline

Traveling with a cat is a totally different experience than with a dog or some other pet. Here are several tips to keep your sanity and make the trip with your feline friend.

Get Your Vet’s Approval

Before you head out on a long trip, talk to your vet. Make sure that kitty doesn’t need any shots or that he or she is OK to travel. A basic checkup will put your mind at ease and possibly make the cat’s live easier too.

If your cat is older, you’ll want to start sensitizing him or her to the trip by making sure that he’s comfortable being in and around vehicles.

Cats don’t always like cars.

Start them as young as you can, and you shouldn’t have too many problems. For a brief time, a kitten is pretty open to experiencing new things. But, that period is pretty limited. After about 7 weeks, cats start to become set in their ways.

One thing you can do to protect your seats is to get a cover from ShearComfort.com. It will catch any hair that your cat starts to shed out of anxiety or stress. It will also give kitty something to claw that’s not your seats. [Read more…]

Today we have another fun post starring the Simply Sweet Home Cats! Yay! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE my baby cats and would do anything for them. And I have to say, I think I’m very lucky to have a couple of really good-natured and well behaved cats! But like all relationships, a relationship between a cat mommy and her cats can get quite interesting! For example, my sweet Sugar cat likes to cuddle, but only on her terms, and she will give you a very small love bite when she’s ready to stop.
