4 Ways You’re Damaging Your Dryer —Avoid Them if Possible

It’s one of my favorite appliances in my home and for years I didn’t know I was damaging it. Only after two replacements did I learn a few important lessons.

Do you also love the feel and smell of clothes fresh out of the dryer? Then let me help you look after your valuable appliance before you have to call a dryer vent repair company.

Here are a few things you may be doing wrong, but in most cases there are quick solutions.

What do You Place Inside?

What do you think your dryer can handle? Many people overestimate their appliances’ abilities.

You’ll get the best service out of your dryer—and prevent damage—when you use it for it’s initial purpose. Anything you put inside that’s outside of its original scope, can potentially harm it because it’s too heavy, too dense or sharp.

So you know it’s made for drying clothes. Here’s a list of things people occasionally try to dry, but they shouldn’t:

– Shoes

– Handbags

– Stuffed toys

– Wigs

Perhaps you unintentionally fill it with unwanted items. This happens when someone in your family doesn’t take out harmful items form their pockets. Coins can damage the inside and paper can increase the risk of a fire.

Now you know why your mother yelled at you for not emptying you pockets.

Where is It Placed?

Exterior factors can also damage your dryer without you realizing it. You’ll know when your dryer starts malfunctioning, but then the damage is done:

– Placing it on a surface that’s not level, or is a bit irregular, isn’t wise. A dryer needs to be stable during every load. If not, the motion will harm mechanical parts. Luckily you can solve this by simply adjusting the feet. Most models these days have adjustable ones.

– Don’t squeeze your dryer into a small, confined space. There must be room for air to circulate. You don’t want heat to build up as it can lead to fires. Yes, you can put it under a counter, but placing it inside a closet isn’t ideal.

– It’s practical to place your washer and dryer on top of each other. Just ensure they’re absolutely stable so the one’s motion doesn’t cause the other one any damage.

Space is a luxury in most homes, but don’t compromise on this. It’s not only about drying clothes. Placement determines your family’s safety.

How Big is a Load?

You want to finish your washing as quickly as possible, but don’t be tempted to overload your dryer. There’s a reason your owner manual states a maximum load.

Firstly, overloading will require you to use longer cycles because the air won’t circulate well. That’s not practical. You’re wasting time and energy.

Secondly, the weight of the washing can cause damage to your dryer’s components such as bearings and even the drum itself.

Is it Really Clean?

Every time you neglect to clean your dryer, you’re potentially damaging it. It can cause excessive heat to build up which can harm the dryer or even start a fire.

Fires take place when lint builds up in the dryer vent and something sets off a spark. Since dryers produce heat and static, you shouldn’t ever take this chance.

Here’s what you need to clean regularly:

– Lint trap

– Dryer vent

– Moisture sensors

[Conclusion]

Does this give you a new perspective? It did for me. Now I keep my favorite appliance in mint condition all the time.

Before you do that next batch of washing, make sure you tended to all these possible problems. Done already? You just enhanced your dryer’s lifespan. You’re welcome.

How to Save Money when Buying Home Appliances

Home appliances have a limited shelf life, and there will come a time when each of your appliances need to be replaced. Some people use appliances until they simply cannot be repaired any longer and completely die. Others replace appliances when the repair costs begin to mount.

Regardless of your strategy in this area, replacing appliances can be an expensive prospect. You understandably want to save as much money as possible while buying quality products that will serve a vital function for years to come. If you are interested in finding the best overall value available for new home appliances, implement these tips.

Check Out Comparison Sites

Each local store and online retailer offers different prices for the same or similar appliances. The last thing that you want is to pay more money than you otherwise would simply because of where you made your purchase. You can look for online reviews on websites like Best10anything to find quality products that have great consumer reviews but take the additional step to review comparison websites.

Through this combined approach, you can compare prices on quality appliances. Pay attention to delivery fees and charges. Online shopping is an easy way to compare prices, and in some cases, it can help you to avoid paying sales tax on your purchase. However, delivery and shipping fees vary dramatically and may impact which deal is ultimately the best one available.

Look for Desired Features

According to Woman’s Day, one of the best steps that you can take to save money on any type of appliance is to only buy products that have features that are truly needed. It may seem like a good idea to invest in a machine that is loaded with extra features. After all, you plan to use the appliance for years, and extra features could potentially make your life easier.

However, when you pay for features that you rarely or never will use, you are simply wasting money. List the features that you want to find in your next appliance before you begin shopping if you want to avoid paying more than necessary on the products that you need.

Shop for Clearance Items

You may not realize that appliances are sold on clearance just as clothes and shoes are. Some items are discontinued, and the retailer may be trying to clear out their inventory as soon as possible. In other cases, an item was returned by a consumer and is considered to be an open-box item.

Some appliances may be brand new, but they may have a small dent or scratch. If you are open to the idea of buying these types of products, you could save a substantial amount of money on an otherwise excellent product. You may not want a heavily dented refrigerator standing prominently in your kitchen, but a small ding in a washing machine that only you will see may not be important to you and could save you a bundle of money. Buy Sale Items Appliances are regularly listed for sale. Sales are common over major and lesser holidays as well as periodically throughout the year. Because of how frequently appliances go on sale, you should not feel the urge to make a premature purchase unless absolutely necessary.

If your fridge completely dies, it may be impractical to wait a few weeks for a sale to start before replacing it. However, if you want to replace a fridge that otherwise functions reasonably well or that can make it through the next few weeks, it makes sense to hold off until the fridge that you want to buy goes on sale.

Look for Tax Credits and Rebates

Many energy-efficient appliances qualify for special tax credits and even for local rebates. Before you make a purchase, research the credits and rebates that may be applicable to you. In many cases, these money-saving opportunities are only available on select models. When you understand the qualifications for the savings opportunities up-front, you can search for specific products that meet the qualification requirements.

Pay Attention to Size

The matter of size is something that many consumers overlook. It may be easy to assume that most appliances have the same dimensions, but this is not the case. For example, the capacity of a fridge, washer or dryer vary dramatically. Larger sizes typically cost more money. While there are legitimate reasons for some people to buy a larger size, buying a larger appliance than you actually need wastes money. It could inflate your purchase price, and it could increase your cost of operation throughout the entire time that you own the appliance.

Focus on Energy Savings

Remember that there are up-front costs associated with buying an appliance, and there are ongoing costs associated with using the appliance. The amount of water and energy used to run appliances may seem negligible, but they actually are significant in many cases. More than that, water and energy costs can add up to a considerable amount of money over time. Focus on finding a quality product that offers true value through the initial purchase price and through the cost of ownership. Some people approach appliance shopping with a strategy of buying the absolute cheapest product that they can find. Others look for a product loaded with fancy features. For the best overall experience that results in true value for a product that meets all of your needs, put these money-saving tips to use.

Re-Decorating Your Toddler’s Room As They Get Older

Image via Pexels

Your kids are the cause of a lot of financial pain. I mean, let’s be real, they cost a lot of money to raise! Especially when you think about how much you spend on decorating and redecorating their bedroom. As your child gets older, their tastes differ, and they want their room to reflect that. I could pick any transition stage in their life here, but I want to focus on when they go from toddler age to the age of a young child. I’m talking about the age when they’re in pre-school and then full-time school.

Here, your child will undergo their first real taste changes. For one, they no longer need a crib, they actually have to have a bed! So, here are some ways you can decorate a toddlers room, to make it slightly more mature.

Set Up A Reading Corner

Encouraging your child to read is very important. They should go into their first year of school with at least a little bit of reading ability under their belt. Otherwise, this can hold back their development, and make it hard for them in school. One great way to do this is by setting up a reading corner in their new bedroom. Get a little bookcase filled with children’s books of varying difficulties – so they can work their way up as they get older. If you look on www.comfysacks.com, you will see some small bean bag chairs that I think would go well in a reading corner. They can sit in the chair and read whenever they want, and the fun aspect of a bean bag chair encourages them to go in the corner more often!

Create A Play Area

If possible, you should try and contain your child’s mess as well as you can. A good way to attempt this is by creating a play area in their room. Collect all their toys in one place, and it can be where they do all their playing. So, the right-hand side of their room may be filled with toys on the floor, but at least the other half isn’t! Now, if you really want to get creative and attempt a fairly big interior design project, then you can style the room, so the floor drops down a bit in the middle, creating a little play pit for your child. I’ve also seen ideas where you create a loft in their bedroom, offering playspace for them to climb into via a ladder. The first idea is safer, so I prefer that!

Keep Things Plain

Finally, I say you should try and keep things plain and simple. Don’t buy them a bed that’s shaped like a car, because you’ll end up having to get rid of it when they get older. Buy them a simple single bed that they can use for years on end! The same goes for wallpaper, avoid patterns of their favorite TV characters as they’ll just grow out of them. Paint the walls in nice bright colors that you know they’ll love.

I hope this article helps you re-decorate your toddler’s bedroom as they turn into a little child! Now, it’s a little more to their current tastes and can grow with your child too.

Bringing The Magic Into Your Kid’s Bedroom

If you enjoy decorating your home’s interior space and considering how each room is utilized by your family; you’ll find the task of decorating your little one’s bedrooms a joy. Kids bedrooms and play spaces are the perfect chance to have fun with your interior and design ideas, and you’ll be able to bring a touch of magic into your household. However, the challenge will lie in creating a usable environment which can evolve and appeal to your kids as they grow up and their tastes change. There are an array of ways to bring the magic and excitement into their room, without making massive changes to the structure or layout of the space. If your savvy with your design at the beginning; there’s no reason the bedroom can’t be updated with ease as the years go (or fly) by. Therefore, it’s time to write some lists, do your research, and enjoy the process of gathering your ideas together to create the ultimate habitat for our little ones to sleep, learn, and play.

As previously mentioned; your kid’s taste will inevitably change and develop over time; therefore, it’s worth thinking about a theme carefully. Children often go through phases where they love a particular toy, show, movie, or cartoon; however, investing in expensive wallpaper and sheets (and the rest of the merchandise) is a little risky as they might decide they like something new in a matter of weeks. Therefore, this post will focus on the various elements that make a young person’s room appealing, without a particular theme. There are always improvements, upgrades, and changes that can be made to an interior space that will suit an array of budgets. Some things may take a little longer than others, so it’s about finding the things you and your kids love, and implementing what you’re able to, and, more importantly; want to. The following are some ideas, inspiration, and advice for parents who want to add considered design, and a thoughtful magic touch to their kids bedroom, so that they have the best environment to grow and develop.

Keep It Cozy

Kids love nothing more than having their own little den, nook, or fort, so why not create a permanent one in their bedroom space? One or two areas of the room can be sectioned off, and become a place where your children go to read, play, and use their imaginations (they can also house all those teddies). Whether you have a wooden floor or carpet in the room; separate the area with a fluffy or textured rug; a different floor will help remove the nook from the rest of the bedroom, and will add to its cozy feeling. The bed can also become a space where your kid wants to snuggle up and read before drifting off to sleep. No child likes sleeping in an old metal bed from the 1800s – children beds should be colourful, playful and personal. The last thing you want is for their bed to creak in the night and wake them up, or for them to think a monster is under the big space underneath them.

The soft and comfy places in the bedroom should have a covered area to add to the den feel and ensure that they feel secure and warm. You can be as creative as you want regarding how to cover a space. If it’s on the floor, on a cozy rug in the corner; you can use a decorative sheet or some canvas draped over furniture to create a roof. There are also an array of teepee structures available online, which are perfect for filling with soft cushions and throws. If you’re feeling creative and crafty; there are tutorials that will guide through the process of making a fabric teepee; this will allow you to choose the colors that fit best with the rest of the room, and personalize it for your little one. Similarly, there will be allsorts of fabric options regarding a cover for your child’s bed. Whether they want a princess-style drape or a pre-made giant leaf; they’ll love the bedtime routine if they get to hide underneath their little roof and enjoy a book with a torch.

Keep an emphasis on texture; kids love the feeling of various soft textures surrounding them, so incorporate them using blankets, throws, duvets, and cushions and pillows in an array of sizes. The soft furnishings are a great way to introduce pattern, print, and color, and they can be updated with ease when you want to change things or your child’s favorite color changes (again). Thankfully, cushion covers, blankets, and fabrics are easy to store or reuse in other parts of the home, making them the ideal way to update and have fun with a space. The covers and any fabric-based structure can also be removed when your kid feels like they’ve outgrown them, so they are an affordable way to introduce magic and excitement into the interior space.

Light The Way

Lighting can set the mood and feeling in any room, so it’s worth thinking about how is best to illuminate the space, depending on what your child uses it for. The cozy den areas that were mentioned beforehand need to feel warm, with low-lighting. String and fairy lights will always create a magical atmosphere, so consider putting them up in dark corners, and even around the edge of the floor for some soft up-lighting. You could put up a dimmable LED rope light around the walls; either along the floor’s edge or above a picture rail or below coving. A dimmable light will give your little ones plenty of options regarding what they want to do at the time; if they don’t feel like reading by torchlight, they can turn it up a little, and they can have the lights low when it’s time to unwind and relax. Lights can also simply be decorative and a flexible way to create little areas of interest in their bedroom. Perhaps the wire on string lighting will provide the perfect place to peg-up photos, images, and pictures of your little one’s family, friends, and favorite characters.Using postcards and pictures to display what your child is loving at that time is another flexible way to change and update the space when they move on to their next favorite themes and shows.

It’s always worth having a lamp or two which are bright enough for your child to draw or read beneath; bedside lamps and desk lights are a great way to give enough ambiance and brightness, without making the bedroom look stark or cold. Floor lamps and the use of up-lighting will have the same effect; remember the bedroom is a place of fun, but also calm, so it’s worth using warm light bulbs which can still be bright. Fairy and festoon lights near reflective and shiny surfaces will twinkle, so it might be worth playing around with the placement so that you achieve the most magical effect.

Tiny Touches Of Fun

Another affordable and flexible option regarding adding fun and intrigue to your kid’s bedroom, is to collect together some quirky interior design accessories that will make everyone smile. The functional items in the space don’t have to be plain and boring; you could use novelty coat hooks and arrange them at different heights along a wall, or perhaps you could have fun with the storage and shelving. Think about using vibrant colors against white walls regarding any shelves or storage boxes; these will be less committal than painting a whole wall space, and you can get the kids involved in the process. Unusual shelf, chair, and rug shapes will all add personality and design features to a room with little effort, so it’s probably time to start checking out some inspiration and ideas.

Keep your kids part of the process every step of the way; their input will mean that you’ll create their dream bedroom environment, whatever you choose to do.

Your Restaurant Dreams Made A Reality!

The restaurant. A place we like to frequent ourselves and spend a good amount of money for our friends, family, and dates when we have them. Yet, if you’re a good cook, chances are you’ve thought about creating your own decisions in a professional space. So we’ve all had the dream of opening our own restaurant from time to time, especially after cooking one good dinner and thinking this could be the start of an illustrious career, there’s no judgement there! Either way, if you’re serious or not about your cookhouse plans, they don’t have to only be a dream on the horizon.

When it comes to running any kind of business, you’re going to have a lot to contend with. When you’re working in the customer service industry, you have to go above and beyond for the people who walk though your doors. When you’re working directly with hospitality, you’re going to need to make sure everything is perfect for the people who frequent your establishment. A good experience is key to retaining customers after all!

Maybe you’re finding yourself sitting around in the evenings, imagining everything you could be doing with your own restaurant, either cooking up a storm yourself or sitting in the back office ordering in all of the delicious ingredients in which you can impress your diners with. It’s time to make those dreams a reality, and here’s some good considerations for you when it comes to finally building up the restaurant you were meant to own!

Know You’ll Go the Extra Mile

Business takes a lot of time and effort, so don’t go into the prospect blind. You’re going to have to go above and beyond for your restaurant, and probably lose out on a lot of free time and sleep when you desperately need it. Restaurants, more than anything, can be very tricky to get off the ground. People are very picky with what they like to eat, and if you’re in a metropolitan or urban area, you’re going to have a lot of competition. However, sticking at it and advertising over and over again about what you offer and why you’re better is going to take you far.

No one should open a business without believing in it first, as it’s this love for what you do that keeps you coming back for the future. Make sure you know where you want to take your business at the end of the day, and don’t ever give up on it; this is your dream after all! Have a drive to see your ideas through to the end and you’ll never need to blame yourself for not trying hard enough to make it in the game.

Finding a Suitable Space

You don’t have to even buy the space if you’re looking to run a restaurant, and when you’re renting on a short term lease, you can test the waters with a pop up shop. So go looking amongst the market for a good while. A suitable space is going to be a place that you know you can thrive in, most of all. All the other considerations can fall in after that, as you need to be able to expand on your business plan and bring in enough money to keep you open. These technicalities are always going to be important, so make sure they’re kept in mind when you’re choosing your space from the high street real estate.

If you’re just starting out, you may not even have all the equipment you need, but you can always consider commercial kitchen rental if you just need somewhere to start. Renting another restaurant’s kitchen gives you access to all of the equipment you need without having to buy everything yourself, allowing you to get your business established.

There’s a lot of factors you’re going to need to keep an eye out for when you’re selecting your space. People need to be able to locate you quickly, and all kinds of people need to find you accessible if you’re truly going to service the market. Everyone needs to eat after all, and too small a space isn’t going to bring anyone in, let alone the crowds you want and need! Don’t let yourself rush this consideration, as going in too soon can mean you’re bankrupt within the month.

You also need to make sure you’re not surrounded by too many competitors, or that your restaurant at least serves a different kind of food to those around you. People need variety, and cooking up the same kind or burgers as the shop next door when they have more of a legacy than you is going to be a money sucker.

Designing the Floorplan to Customer Specification

The floorplan is where your customers wine and dine, and having enough room to eat comfortably and socialise in their own space is the only way you’re going to keep them coming back to sit down with you. If people are too close together, there’s simply no elbow room to use a knife and fork! Design something you know you’d feel comfortable in, as drawing from personal experiences is a lot more reliable than simply working with what you think looks best on paper.

Try to use the space to your advantage. Design around the property you’re working in, as it’s this idea that makes moments in your restaurants feel intimate and private amongst your patrons. So if you have a split level to your floor plan, open up the lower space with some bright lighting and tables within close proximity of each other. In the upper space, make things a little more secluded, and use candles and wall lights rather than the overhead variety.

Kitting Out the Kitchen

The kitchen is the place you’re really going to shine, despite the fact that the customers are never going to see it. You see, when you’re spinning out plates of food to the masses, you’re going to be judged most of all on your taste, presentation, and customer service. But if you don’t have a strong foundation to work off of (i.e. the kitchen…), you’re going to fall down in all of these areas!

Make sure you can cook all kinds of food to really open up your menu and make the most amount of money when you need to. Unless you’re really committed to one kind of food, and you only specialise in one area of the multiple pallets we have in our world, cater to all walks of life. For example, you can view fish scaler machines here if you’re thinking of having a seaside themed menu section, or you’re living anywhere near the coast and fish is a popular option on late Saturday nights out on the town. Simply knowing where you live, and what the people in your area like the most, is going to count a lot towards your turn over at the end of the month.

Get the Right Kind of Employees

The employees that are right for your business are the people you get on with yourself. If you find someone friendly and approachable, with plenty of smiles and casual conversation to go around, make sure you hire them. A lot of patrons love it when their server can strike up a quick conversation with them whilst still retaining their professionalism, and it garners a lot of great reviews after every meal.

If you’re looking to hire staff, make sure you have a training program in place so you’re staff can work to the high standard you require. You can find out how to hire guides tailored to different roles online so you can be sure you’re securing the right staff for your business. Simply showing someone around a kitchen isn’t enough; you’ll need to make sure they can handle customer complaints and know how to deliver orders to the people. Customer satisfaction depends on these people being at the top of the game, so don’t penalise them for any mistakes! Just make sure they know what to do.

Get Stuck In!

If you started a business, it’s good practice to make sure you’re active in that business. Simply sitting back and expecting the cash to roll in for you isn’t good for anyone involved in your company, so make sure you’re just as acquainted with the shop floor as your staff. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, and cook some dishes up in the kitchen from time to time. If you know how to make a mean chili con carne, or your lemon sauce is second to none, this is where you can shine.

It also means you’ll be around to deal with any serious customer complaints when they occur, and they will, and you can jump in behind the till or as the host whenever you need to. Because of all of that, you’re going to be a better restaurant owner, and you’re going to become a lot more well known in your community. Reputation is everything after all!

Your restaurant dreams don’t have to stay that way, and it’s time to start taking them seriously. You keep dreaming about them for a reason, so at least look into the possibility to see how well it could go for you. A lot of the time people are looking for a little more food variety in their local area, and when you’re convenient, you’re extremely lucrative. Know your area and you’ll go far!

Six Home Maintenance Jobs To Complete In Spring

Spring is round the corner and the days are at last getting longer. During the lighter months we start to look at our home in a different way, we start replacing the dark cozy corners of winter with fresh spring flowers, comfy throws are put into storage and warm reds and browns are replaced with fresh greens. In fact we start to embark on a flurry of spring cleaning! (It’s also a great time to start looking in to summer houses and vacation home options.)

There are some areas of home maintenance which lends itself to spring, as well as the usual cleaning, decluttering and polishing.  Rather than haphazardly flitting from job to job, draw up a plan of action!

Check guttering and drainage

If you haven’t had your gutters cleaned and checked since autumn there is likely to be a build up of leaves and debris. Gutters can also suffer from damage caused by high winds, weight of snow and leaves or general deterioration. It’s important to keep your guttering in top top condition as faulty gutters can cause damp and drainage issues.

Check your roof for damage

During the winter strong winds can cause loose tiles and can even cause aerials to become unstable. Check that chimneys have not suffered similar damage. Damage to roofs will only get worse, so it is best to rectify the problem quickly. The last thing you want is a hefty bill due to leaks damaging the interior of your property.

Check garden structures

Sheds can take a battering in winter causing leaks and roof problems. Ensure that the roof felt is secure and that the shed remains watertight. A damp leaky shed will not help in the preservation of garden tools. Carefully check greenhouses for broken and loose glass.

If you have children, check their play area and equipment to ensure it remains safe for them to use.

Another garden safety check, is to ensure that any trees on your property have not become damaged in winter storms. You can get tree loppers here to help you cut down any precarious looking branches. A fallen branch or tree can cause an incredible amount of damage to structures, not to mention people!

Clean conservatories

If your conservatory isn’t used much in the winter it is susceptible to mould growth and windows inside and out can become grubby too. You can hire specialists to clean the conservatory for you which would be especially useful in reaching high roofs, or grab your rubber gloves and get scrubbing. A sparkling conservatory is an attractive addition to a home, a dilapidated uncared for conservatory – really isn’t! To allow you to benefit from your now sparkling conservatory all year round, you may want to consider the best insulation for conservatory roof and take a look at some of the products and conservatory insulation solutions that are now available.

Clean windows

One lovely aspect of spring is the appearance of sunny days. To let as much light as possible into your home, clean all windows inside and out. At the same time, clean window sills and doors. Your house will start to look fresher.

Do the garden

Spring brings new life in the garden as bulbs you planted last autumn spring to life. Don’t worry if the window for planting bulbs passed you by, as you can buy ready grown spring bulbs relatively cheaply from nurseries and supermarkets. A pot filled with spring bulbs placed at your front door will brighten up your entrance.

So now you’ve tackled the outside, it’s time to tackle your homes interior. Your house will be sparkly and spring fresh in no time at all!

Taking Care of Your Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors radiate an effortless elegance and timeless beauty that no other flooring has been able to replicate. It’s no wonder that they have remained popular since they became common place in the late 19th century. But more than their superficial appeal, hardwood floors are preferred by many for several reasons.

If you ask someone in the real estate business, they will tell you that it is easier to sell a house with hardwood floors. Made in three different ways—solid wood, engineered wood, and acrylic impregnated—hardwood floors are durable, easy to install, and more affordable than carpets. 5 Tips to Fixing Your Roof on a Budget

Every household owner can agree that one of the most common and persisting problems in their home are roof damages and leaks. First of all, roofs are hard to reach and one would need to be careful in accessing their roof because aside from the height, a simple misstep could cause further damage. Secondly, finding the specific location of the damage or leak can be very frustrating and time-consuming. And finally, fixing the damaged roof or covering the leaks can be as equally hard and confusing.

If you are having similar problems with your roofs in your houses, then you are probably thinking of hiring a professional helper to do the inspection and subsequent fix to your roof. Yes, it might be the best and easiest way, however, if you don’t have enough money to cover the expenses and materials then you might want to check out our 5 expert tips on how to fix your roof on a tight budget.

  1. Pinpoint the specific location of the damage or leak on your roof

As mentioned above, finding the location of the leak or damage in your roof is very hard and time-consuming. However, if you just follow a simple accurate inspection procedure, then finding the leak or damage can be very much easier. To do this, you will simply need the help of a watcher for the leaks and a long water hose. Start from the valley and hip parts of your roof and slowly run down the water hose. As the water penetrates your roof, instruct your helper to watch out for the parts where the water leaks. Most common leaks are the gutter areas, flashing areas, and the valley areas. By doing this simple procedure in each section of your roof, you will eventually find and pinpoint the specific location of the damage or leak. However, sometimes, even with careful inspection, pinpointing the exact location can still be challenging. In such cases, seeking the best roofing company can be a wise decision. Experienced roofing professionals have the expertise and tools to accurately locate and repair leaks, ensuring your roof remains in optimal condition. Look for professionals with over a decade of experience to ensure high-quality work. Those offer thorough roof inspections, free estimates, expert storm damage restoration, and comprehensive guidance with insurance claims.

  1. Fix the damaged roof or leak yourself

Basically, every minor roof problem can be easily fixed with a simple shingle replacement or a water sealant. Replacing a shingle or tile roof and be very easy and self-explainable. For water leaks in your gutters and flashings, a water sealant can in most cases solve the problem easily. Take note that the earlier you fix the problem, the easier and cheaper it will be.

  1. Caution and safety is top priority

When accessing your roof for fixing or inspecting, always remember to be careful of your steps. Try to step on the areas where there are concrete or metal beams underneath the roof section for a stable footing. Your caution will also not just be your safety but also to prevent further damage to your roofs.

  1. Make it simple as much as possible

When doing the repairs yourself, only address the specific and recurring problem. Do not try to go out of your way and seal the entire flashing or gutter. Repairs will not restore your roof to their “brand new” condition, so always make the process simpler and only replace or seal the roofs that cause the leaks.

  1. Call for help if things worsen

Finally, if things don’t go your way which is perfectly understandable, then make that phone call right away lest you cause further damage to your roofs which will definitely mean more expenses. There are leaks and damages that no matter how hard you try, only a professional hand will only be the one that can fix it, but hey, at least you tried.

Ideas to create a Bathroom Oasis for Two

When you share a home with a partner, it’s absolutely important to have a functional bathroom for the two of you. As well as having a functional space, an appealing and relaxing bathroom makes getting ready for the day or night so much better. Create a bathroom oasis that accommodates both of your needs and styles. This way, sharing a bathroom won’t be such a stressful experience—it might even be pleasant, dare we say!

First, set a realistic plan on what you can actually modify in your bathroom. Is the space big enough to fit in new bathroom vanity cabinets? Does the current plumbing affect any of the upgrades you might be thinking of? Is there a plumber in bristol (or in your own local area) that can complete the work for you at a good price? And of course, you’ll have to crunch some numbers to see if your budget can afford you everything that you want to change. Once you’ve got your planning done, it’s time to start designing your ideal bathroom.

Double Bathroom Vanity Cabinets for Two

It can be tricky to store all of the needs of two people in one little cabinet. So, it makes complete sense to choose double bathroom cabinets for ample storage. As your eye will likely be drawn to the cabinets when you first enter a bathroom, the cabinet design matters. You want to pick an appealing and durable design. Choose wooden bathroom vanity cabinets for a warm and classic look. For a more contemporary choice, go for highly durable glass cabinets. If you both share the same design and style preferences, venture off with vintage or metal cabinets. Otherwise, wooden cabinets are always a safe choice.

Pick a Luxurious & Durable Vanity Top

Having a sturdy and long-lasting vanity top definitely matters. With the high traffic and general wear and tear in the bathroom, you’ll want a vanity top that lasts for the long run. A cultured marble or granite vanity top will add a clean and luxurious touch to your bathroom. Make sure to get the correct measurements of your bathroom cabinets first before you settle on a vanity top.

Choose a Statement Mirror

With a double vanity, you have a couple of options for picking mirrors. A large mirror that extends to both ends of the vanity would open up the bathroom and make it look bigger. Choose one with a frame for a more ornate appearance, or keep it minimalist with a borderless mirror. Another idea is to install individual mirrors for each sink. If mixing and matching mirrors sounds good to both of you, hang mirrors of different sizes. Stick with one shape or design so that this idea looks cohesive, not random.

Brighten up the Space with New Light Fixtures

Brand new lights are sure to make a difference in how a bathroom looks and feels. Put in a long row of light fixtures right above the mirror and vanity. If you have individual mirrors above the double sinks, placing light fixtures on each side of the mirrors will look just as good. Consider a light dimmer to control the amount of lighting you need (and to not disturb your partner if you need to make a bathroom trip at night). Dimming the lights in the morning also helps your eyes adjust slowly when you get ready in the morning. And when you’re winding down for the night, dim lights should get you prepared for sleep.

Update the Shower Area

There are lots of things you can do to update your shower. Lay down new, sleek tiles for the walls and floors. Take out your old shower head and trade it in for a rain shower head. Install glass sliding doors. Sometimes even just doing a deep cleaning of your shower tiles, grout and fixtures makes all the difference.

Consider swapping out old and tired bathroom tiling for Wet Wall Panels. Wet wall panels are made from PVC and provide a  waterproof look for your bathroom in a stunning and seamless way. They can run from floor to wall and protect your bathroom from water damage and you don’t have to worry about refreshing or repairing any grouting as you would with tiles.

Don’t Forget About These Finishing Touches

Smaller details such as having fresh bath mats, towels and hanging up paintings shouldn’t be forgotten. There’s no point in having stunning bathroom cabinets and a shower when the towels and mats look worn out. Having little to no clutter helps make the bathroom look bigger and cleaner, too. Keep all the spare towels and toiletries in the cabinets and out of sight. Once you have everything put together to your tastes, there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy sharing this space with your favourite person.
