Having a sweet and happy home and family life isn’t just about food and housekeeping.  It starts with you. If you don’t feel healthy and feel good about yourself it is more difficult to take care of your home or other people. That’s why I try to share health & beauty tips and products from time to time. For the summer, I’ve planned a series of posts centered around health & beauty.  Over the next few weeks you’ll discover some great products, tips, and a giveaway or two!  Hope you enjoy!

LaBella Skincare Review

We kick off our Summer Health & Beauty Series with Skincare Products from La Bella.  La Bella has more than 30 years of experience  offering a variety of superior, salon quality hair and skincare products. Their skincare line offers solutions to keep your skin looking clear and vibrant and subtle.

You can find their products online and Drugstore.com or at local retailers like Walmart, Target, and Kroger.

Here’s a list of the products I have used, along with details on the usage:

La Bella Rose Hips Oil Cream – Contains Vitamin E to help rehydrate chapped skin and prevent aging from the sun. It also lessens wrinkles and skin spots, all while smelling amazing.

La Bella Vitamin E Cream with Aloe – This gentle product evens complexion and skin tone, while soothing and cooling burns from the harsh sunrays. Perfect to use after a day at the beach.

La Bella Vanishing Cream – Sometimes the damage from the sun is inevitable, but with a cocoa butter combination this cream helps diminish sunspots, freckles, and age spots while creating a smooth complexion.

La Bella Cosmetic Gel – This cream is made with collagen, elastin, snail extract, and aloe vera to help accelerate skin cell production while hydrating and healing skin blemishes.

Why I Love the Products:

  • The products are made from all natural ingredients.
  • Affordable! Each product is $5-$6.
  • The products come in a very good portioned size.
  • The products deminish blemishes and other imperfections, while also healing and rehydrating your skin.
  • The products feel good on your skin.
  • The products have a very nice and pleasant scent.

Fighting Stains with OxiClean: Review & Giveaway

OxiClean Giveaway

A week or two ago, I started going through clothes for my upcoming, and much anticipated yard sale, and I also rearranged all my closets and drawers, putting away winter clothes, and getting those spring and summer clothes organized and accessible.  Whenever I do my semi-annual clothes clean ups, I usually find there are a few things that need to be thrown in the washer for a little freshening up.  Enter OxiClean!

I’ve been seeing OxiClean advertised on television for years, but I only just recently tried one of their products.  The company has a number of powdered and liquid detergents for clothing and dish washing.  In my case, I tried the White Revive Laundry Stain Remover.

The product comes in a small 3 pound tub, which is enough for 45 loads.  As you can imagine from the name, it is especially designed to remove stains and keep your whites bright.  But unlike other whitening products, the OxiClean is chlorine free, has no harsh odors, and is safe to use on colored clothes.  And it is also dye and scent free, which means it is safe to use on baby clothes and on items for people with sensitive skin and allergies.

Personally I was happy with the results I got from this detergent.  It did a great job of cleaning the clothes.  Plus, I know a lot of people don’t like the fruity or flowery smells that go along with other detergents, so if you are one of those people, this detergent would certainly be to your liking in that regard.

Giveaway! One Simply Sweet Home reader will win a box of OxiClean detergent.

Laundry Simplified with Purex No Sort

Purex No Sort

If you’ve been a regular visitor to my blog and checked out my product reviews, you know that I am fan and user of Purex laundry products.  Their detergent and fabric softeners do a great job keeping our clothes clean and fresh, and they smell great too.  And they are also way more affordable compared to the other leading brands.  One of the newest products from Purex is Purex No Sort.  This product is exactly what it sounds like.  It allows you to wash a load of clothes in any color without worrying about the colors fading on one another.

How does it work, you say? The detergent features a breakthrough Anti-Color-Transfer Technology™ which traps loose dyes in the wash and reduces color bleeding accidents in your mixed color loads leaving your clothes bright and clean.

The product has a nice, clean scent, and I think it did a great job on the clothes.  I also love the concept of the product.  In my household, my clothes are already basically presorted before the wash.  I have a hamper for towels, a separate hamper for each person, and a small bin for whites.  From there, I tend to wash the nicer clothes (blouses, dress shirts, and dress pants) on gentle cycle, separate from other clothes like jeans or pajamas which go on the ultra clean cycle.

Still even with this organized sorting method, I sometimes have to separate the laundry further if I have a new red shirt or some black items that I don’t want to put in with the lighter colors, so I think the detergent could come in handy for me, as it could mean less smaller loads to wash.

And I especially think the product would come in handy for people who are in a hurry and don’t have time to separate laundry, let alone wait for everything to wash in separate.  And it would be like a blessing to those who have one or two hampers, where everything is all thrown in together.

So if you want to simplify your laundry routine, I recommend trying Purex No Sort.

Spring Cleaning with Essential8

I love using natural products for cleaning and bath & body.  I love natural cleaning products because they generally lack the strong, harsh smells that other chemical cleaners have, and they are safer to have around my family and pets. I’ve been doing a lot of spring cleaning projects the last couple of months, and I was excited to try out some products from essential8 to help out the process.
