Building Muscle with EAS

The fall season is almost upon us, but that doesn’t mean we have to let our summer health and fitness routines fall by the wayside.  Didn’t have a summer health and fitness routine?  Well, in that case, the fall season is a great time to start one!

My husband and I are both at a good weight and are in fairly good health.  In my case,  I’m in my early 30s (and holding).  I’ve still got a lot of energy, and I’m fairly strong for my tiny size, if I do say so myself!  But I’m the Skinny Minnie who wants to be Mighty Mouse! Haha!  My husband and I are always working on DIY projects, and I hate it when we get to the parts where I can’t help!

As for my husband, he’s getting ready to turn the big 4-0.  He was actually very sick a few months ago.  And although, he’s mostly recovered, he lost a lot of his muscle strength, and he also struggles with neuropathy, which sometimes keeps him down. He’s always been an active person, and he loves working and fixing things, so I definitely want him to get back in shape, so he can do activities he loves!

Regardless of your age, size, fitness level, and situation, I believe the right supplements and fitness products are a MUST if you really want to get serious about your health and/or fitness levels!  With 42 grams of protein and 24 vitamins and minerals, EAS Myoplex Ready to Drink Shakes are a great choice to help you build muscle and strength. Back to School Breakfast with Jimmy Dean

For the past few weeks we’ve been getting ready for back to school.  Band camp is behind us, school fees have been paid, the class schedule is in hand, and on Wednesday of this week, Noah will be going for his first official day as a high school sophomore.  Incidentally, a lot of people don’t know it, but sophomore literally means “wise fool.”  (Just a little fun fact for you!)

When it comes to breakfast time, I try to be anything but foolish, and I want to send our child off to school with a full stomach, so he can stay focused and WISE!  During the week, I’m happy to turn to my good friend from the freezer Jimmy Dean for delicious and easy breakfast options! Reach Complete Care

Reach Complete Care

In the past I’ve mentioned how important oral care is to me.  In the past I’ve had a lot of fillings and other work done, and I want to nip future cavities in the bud!  It turns out, I’m not the only one putting a priority on oral hygiene.  A new survey by Kelton Global states millions of American moms prioritize oral hygiene over washing their face, or removing their makeup before bed, and 82% of the nation’s moms never skip brushing their teeth every night.  When oral hygiene is this important to you, it’s important to have a great products like Reach Complete Care. Uncleaned Kitchen

Sometimes, just SOMETIMES, mind you, my kitchen is not absolutely pristine and clean.  Sometimes all my counters look like the photo above (or much worse!).  It usually happens after a lot of cooking takes place.  After “slaving over a hot stove”  my family finally gets to eat this most delicious meal I have prepared and maybe even indulge in one of my scrumptious desserts.

Afterward I am less than thrilled at the thought of cleaning, and I love nothing more than when my husband says, “leave that mess for later,”  or better yet, “let me know help you clean up.”  Either way….some time and somehow the cleaning has to be done, because I can’t STAND a dirty kitchen for long. 4th of July Picnic

The summer season is such a fun opportunity to spend time with family and friends in the great outdoors and host fun cook outs and picnics, but I, for one, have a hard time standing the heat!  There are certain times of day when I can barely go outside at all for more than a few minutes, much less have fun in the sun or play hostess!

I’m sure a lot of you ladies and gents feel the same way!

Today I’m going to share some ways I beat the heat when planning my party menu, and I’ve also got a recipe for an easy side dish you can make for your upcoming picnics and barbecues: a corn casserole! [Read more…]

V8 V-Fusion Energy and 5 Energy Boosting Foods

Are your lazy days of summer not so lazy?  For a lot of moms, the summer season is anything BUT lazy!  Since we have an older kid, I don’t have to worry about planning activities for him during the day, but I still have to make sure he’s taken care of and has lunch and snacks for the day (and this is in addition to my other regular duties of making dinner, working, and taking care of the house).

And then in July when band camp comes around, look out! For my husband and I, band camp starts early, ends late, and is basically a day of driving back and forth.  Since I do most of my work at night and generally get very little sleep, a day of driving back and forth is definitely not good for me!  By the end of last year’s band camp, I think I was more tired than Noah!

I’ve always been known as an energetic person…people are usually amazed at how much energy I have, but as I’ve entered my 30’s I am starting to feel (dare I say it?) older and with everything I’ve got going on, my energy levels are sometimes zapped to virtually nothing!  But I’m working to combat this!  One key way to boost energy is with Energy Boosting Foods! 5 Laundry Organizing Tips + All Free Clear (And a Sweepstakes!)

Linquia All Image

All Free Clear Products

Don’t you just love doing laundry?  As far as chores go, I think laundry is something that you either love or hate.  I actually don’t mind it most of the time.  First of all, it’s a chore that you can actually see noticeable results from; I love nothing more than to pull a fresh load of nice clean clothes from the dryer and then restock the drawers and closets around the house.  Something about it makes me feel warms inside.  Secondly I’ve got a pretty good system down when it comes to doing laundry, and my system and the way all the clothes are already pre-sorted for me, just makes the whole chore pretty easy!  In fact, laundry is the one chore with which I absolutely want NO HELP from my husband. (No offense to him or any one else; I just have certain ways I like to do things!) [Read more…]

5 Kitchen Tips from my Hubby

Each day my husband and I are pressed with one big question: What are we going to eat?

Sometimes getting all our meal fixed is one of the biggest challenges of the day, but I have a few things I do to make it less challenging. First of all, I have a husband who loves being in the kitchen and is happy.  Secondly, my family loves convenience foods, so a few nights a week I get to just heat up pre-cooked items from the freezer.  Stouffer’s is one of my go-to brands for this! Fighting Bad Puppy Breath with Orapup

Last October we adopted our little puppy girl, Shadow.  She’s now “approximately” one year old, and she’s basically the center of our universe.  (At least she believes and often insists that she is, and we’ve really given her no reason to think otherwise!)

Shadow loves snuggling and playing with her parents.  And she also loves to give and steal puppy kisses, so much so that we often call her the “Lick-o-potamus.”  As the primary targets of her campaign to spread love and licks, my husband and I always make sure Shadow is nice and clean, with regular baths and nail clippings, and we give her Orapup to eliminate bad puppy breath and make her kisses sweeter, while she’s being the ambassador of love. Sitting Down with a Good Book and Kobo Glo HD

Disclosure: I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Kobo and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
Kobo Glo HD Reader

A lot of you don’t know this, but about a year before I started my blog, I got graduated from college as a double major in English and history. Over the course of my college career, I collected a lot of books which I still own and occasionally refer to. I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of books because you never know when they might come in handy, but at the same time, we only have so much space. For this reason, the internet and ebooks have become a primary source for reading.

I recently got a new ereader, the Kobo Glo HD.   With it’s very clear 6″ black and white screen, the Kobo Glo HD is a great way to enhance your reading experience.  It is light weight and much more convenient to carry around than actual books.  It is  wifi enabled and gives you access to millions of titles, from classic novels to contemporary best sellers, text books, how-to books, and more!  (Some titles are even free!)

The product box actually has a page from Jane Eyre, which just happens to be one of my favorite books!  I looked it up in the Kobo Glo estore and was happy to find several versions of the title.  As a former student, I know how important it is to be able to access the exact version of the book that is assigned to you, so I found it very cool that a number of versions were available for the classic titles I look up.

Giving you the ability to store 3000 ebooks, plus a 2-month battery life are two more reasons why this is a good readers for students and avid readers alike.  Plus, you can download the Kobo App, and you’ll have access to all your ebooks any of your desktop computer and all mobile devices, including Android, iOS, Blackberry 10, and Windows 8.

If you are an avid reader of if you know a recent high school graduate or college student, this is definitely a great item to consider for gift giving.
