Easy Tailgating Ideas with Red Baron and Edwards Pies

The number one question I hear people ask on Saturdays in the fall is, “What time is the game?”  Almost everyone I know has a team they root for, a team they root against, and few teams they watch just for the fun of it!  Each week we have OUR teams that we watch as well, and good food is a key ingredient to making our football Saturday great!

Last week we were super busy working on various projects, but thanks to Red Baron Pizza and Edwards Pies, I still managed to put together a little spread for the big game. [Read more…]

Rocky Road S’mores Cheesecake – An Easy Fall Dessert Recipe

The fall season is here, and holidays are just around the corner.  For me, this means the season of good eats and sweet treats is upon us!  But when you’re a wife and mom, you usually don’t get to just enjoy the treats around you, you also have to come up with your own dessert ideas to bring for functions.

Whenever it’s time for Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, I’m usually tasked with bringing desserts. (And I’m okay with this, because desserts are my favorite recipes to make!)  But if your family participates in a lot of activities, you may find yourself in a pinch for a quick dessert recipe!  School and church parties, fall festivals, and school fundraisers (like a bake sale or cake walk) are just a few events I can think of where you may need to bring a dessert, and I’m sure you can think of many more!

For these occasions, I find it’s easy and cost-effective to create a “semi-homemade dessert.”  For example, purchase a Sara Lee® cheesecake, pound cake, or other dessert, and then add Hershey’s® syrups and other ingredients to customize the dessert. [Read more…]

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Waffles

Chocolate Chip Waffles with Cookie Dough Frosting

A few weeks ago I made Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes for Noah’s birthday.  The first time I made them was last year (also for his birthday).  At the time, I wasn’t sure if he’d like them or not.  (I don’t know what I was thinking….it’s cookie dough flavored frosting! How could he not like them?)  But just in case, I decided to only use the cookie dough frosting on half of the cupcakes.  For the other half, I used a milk chocolate frosting.

The good news is that this left me with half a bowl of delicious frosting to play with!  One thing I decided to do with the leftover was add them to a stack of waffles! [Read more…]

Friday Favorites – Week 282 – with Apple Ideas

This week we’ve been lucky to get a lot of rain and slightly more mild temperatures. But it’s still hot! I’m ready for fall!  Today I was shopping at Target, and I found some new limited edition products from Glade.  The scent is called Apple Tree Picnic.  I’ve purchased apple scented products before, but this scent is the best ever.  Our house smells like an orchard! ANYWAY….I always associate apples with fall, and even though we’re not quite in to the season yet, I’ve got apple on the brain!  So today I’m featuring some ideas featuring one of my favorite fruits: the apple! Hope you enjoy!

The Incredibly Easy Brownie Ice Cream Cake {Guest Post by Tanya at My Fruitful Home}

Once again it’s time for something sweet!  Today we have a yummy guest post from Tanya at My Fruitful Home, and she’s got a combination of two of my favorite things: brownies and ice cream.  Yay!
Blog photo
Hello,  My name is Tanya and I’m from the blog My Fruitful Home. I love blogging about simple crafts, recipes, and managing a home, I also blog about my daily struggles and joys living with a chronic illness. I love inspiring people!

Who doesn’t love brownies and vanilla ice cream? What’s even better? The two mixed together! My sister and I were visiting my grandparents’ home when we were children. One evening my grandmother decided to bake some brownies. When they cooled they began to crack severely. As she tried to cut them they continued to crumble. She had the brilliant idea of mixing the brownie crumbs with vanilla ice cream! I thought she was genius! That was one of my favorite memories of spending time in the summer with her. She had just created brownie ice cream cake!

I hadn’t had this brownie Ice cream cake since I was a teenager. Now that my kids are teenagers I wanted to make one for them. It’s quite simple and I am all about simple. When my kids tasted it they couldn’t wait to find out what I had put in it. Were they surprised when they found out that there were only two ingredients! So here we go! Are you ready for simple?

Brownie Ice Cream Cake
Ingredients:
1 box brownie mix (any brand)
1 half gallon container of vanilla ice cream

Directions:
Make the brownies as directed on the box. I used a 9 X 13 pan.
Let brownies cool in pan.
Take a fork and turn it upside down, scraping the brownies until they start turning into crumbs.

Continue until all the brownies are small crumbs, but not too fine.
Set the container of ice cream out for about 15 – 20 minutes. It should be a little soupy on top. If it’s still too frozen put it in the microwave on defrost for about 3 minutes.

When it’s the right consistency scoop up heaps of ice cream and put it in the pan with the brownie crumbs.
Take a large spoon and start mixing until the two are mixed well. Take the back of the spoon and smooth out the mixture.
Cover with aluminum foil and stick in freezer for at least two hours.

Cut into slices and enjoy!
