At the end of each year I like to look back and revisit some of my old posts, and one thing I always like to do is share a round up of some of my favorite food posts from the year.  Everything looks delicious, if I do say so myself, so I had to hard time picking these out, but finally I came up with 16 goodies!  I have everything from breakfast to dinner, snacks, appetizers, and of course, dessert.  Hope you find something here that you’d like to try for yourself in 2016!  Cheers! Rocky Road S’mores Cheesecake – An Easy Fall Dessert Recipe

Rocky Road Smores Cheesecake 2

The fall season is here, and holidays are just around the corner.  For me, this means the season of good eats and sweet treats is upon us!  But when you’re a wife and mom, you usually don’t get to just enjoy the treats around you, you also have to come up with your own dessert ideas to bring for functions.

Whenever it’s time for Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, I’m usually tasked with bringing desserts. (And I’m okay with this, because desserts are my favorite recipes to make!)  But if your family participates in a lot of activities, you may find yourself in a pinch for a quick dessert recipe!  School and church parties, fall festivals, and school fundraisers (like a bake sale or cake walk) are just a few events I can think of where you may need to bring a dessert, and I’m sure you can think of many more!

For these occasions, I find it’s easy and cost-effective to create a “semi-homemade dessert.”  For example, purchase a Sara Lee® cheesecake, pound cake, or other dessert, and then add Hershey’s® syrups and other ingredients to customize the dessert. [Read more…]

Blueberry Cheesecake Fresh from Florida

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fresh From Florida for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Being from the south, I love eating produce Fresh From Florida.  The spring time is a perfect time for dishes made with fresh fruit.  Fruit is so versatile! It can be used in everything from salads and appetizers to dessert!  Spring is an especially great time for berries, especially blueberries!

Blueberry Muffins are always a delicious breakfast treat, and blueberries are also great to place on top of cake, layer in to parfaits, and put in cobblers!

Personally I love a good cheesecake any day of the week and it can only be made better with a little blueberry on top!  Today I have a recipe to share for a delicious Blueberry Cheesecake. Check it out!

Recipe for Florida Blueberry Cheesecake:

1 whole cheesecake (homemade or store bought)

4 pints Florida blueberries, rinsed

½ lemon, juiced

1 cup water

1 cup natural Florida sugar

Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Directions: In a small sauce pot, combine 2 pints blueberries, sugar, lemon juice and water. Place sauce pot over medium high heat. Stir contents of pot as it comes to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Cook blueberry mixture for 20 minutes or until it coats the back of a spoon. Strain blueberry sauce through a sieve if desired.

Let blueberry sauce cool to room temperature, and store in the refrigerator until needed. Top the cheesecake with some of the cooled blueberry sauce, leaving extra for garnish. Place fresh leftover blueberries on top of the cheesecake and garnish with fresh mint. Serve the blueberry topped cheesecake with extra blueberry sauce. (Serves 6 to 12 people.)

You can find Fresh From Florida on Facebook and also follow them on Fresh From Florida on Twitter for updates and product information.

Frozen Peppermint Pies

I was very excited when the PEEPS® company contacted me about being a part of their 24 Days of PEEPsonality!  Starting December 1, they will be featuring recipes from 24 bloggers on their Facebook page.

I received samples of PEEPS® holiday products, including Marshmallow Trees and Peppermint flavored Marshmallow Stars.  The peppermint flavor inspired me to create a Frozen Peppermint Pie (decorated with the PEEPS® Peppermint flavored Marshmallow Stars, of course).

This recipe is very easy to make and very fun to decorate! It will definitely be a big hit this holiday season with peppermint lovers everybody! [Read more…]
