Creating a Stylized Outdoor Space Part 4 #Digin

Barnsley

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

This week I am wrapping up my post series on creating a stylized outdoor space.  I have to be honest, before starting this series,I had always primarily focused on the patterns and colors of cushions and throw pillows when it came to furniture, but as I’ve looked over all the products available in store at The Home Depot and seen the ideas and tips they have  on their The Garden Club site, I’ve really gotten inspired and learned that there is so much more to outdoor living design. Creating a Stylized Outdoor Space – Part 3 #Digin

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot.

This month I’ve been sharing a series of outdoor living posts on Creating a Stylized Outdoor space with help from our friends at The Home Depot and The Home Depot Garden Club.  We could sit and discuss style tips all day, but nothing is as great as going right to the experts!

In store, you can see all the great outdoor living furniture they have to offer and speak to their store associates about the furniture types, materials, and styles they have available.  Alternatively to can shop online:

On The Home Depot website you can design your outdoor living room by choosing from 10 different frame options available and 9 different cushion colors.  Then order your furniture directly from their site or just browse for ideas online and actually purchase your furniture in store.

Create Your Own Collection

Their collections are lovely and include everything from dining tables, chairs, loveseats, side tables, ottomans, and chaise loungers.  After browsing through their collections, I’ve found three that I would really love for my own back deck and will highlight for you today. [Read more…]

Finding The Perfect Bed For Your Room

Recently I’ve shared ideas to create cozy bedrooms from furniture, bedding and decor, to the little touches.  But whether your researching The Best Baby Activity Tables for your child’s room or searching for the perfect bedspread for your master suite, one thing is for certain: the bed is the centerpiece to the entire room; so today I decided to take a look at beds.  The bed is the main focal point of any room and can completely define the style of the room.   Most recently we decorated a nursery, and I looked at a lot of cribs.  This article on  The Best Mini Cribs; A cute crib for those smaller spaces! may be helpful in helping you choose the perfect one. But what about your other bedrooms?  Here are just a few choices for you to consider.

Sleigh Bed

One of my favoirte types of beds is the sleigh bed.  They have these in several colors and styles, such as the one pictured above.  They even have  leather sleigh beds which look very sleek and stylish.

Another kind of bed they have is the arched bed frame.  I like this style for its simplicity.  And I think it looks great in natural wood color seen here.

Leather Bedframe

And then for a change of pace and something completely modern, I love this Leather Double TV bed.  I looks very sleek, chic, and modern, and it comes in white, black, and chocolate so it can go with any decor.  Adding to this the allure of this bed frame is that it comes with the wires, cables and powerpack to install a television at the end of the the bed.  And you can even purchase a 32 inch LED  Smart tv upgrade with your bed.

Liven Up Your Guest Room with Frette

A while back I wrote a series of posts on making your home guest ready.  Today I’ve got a fantastic site to introduce you to, where you will find items that can help make your guest room extra cozy! Frette offers a beautiful collection of bedsheets, duvet covers, blankets, throw pillow, and even bath robes and slippers.

Silver Bedding

I love their collection pictured above.  This one is called The Golden Bowl.  Doesn’t it look inviting?  I love the light silvery color and the leafy texture.  It makes it a perfect for spring time.  And it just looks so soft and comfy.

Edie Blue Bed

I also love this set.  It is called Ava Blue. I really love the various patterns here. It gives the ensemble a very vintage appeal.  And I think the patterns combined with these colors could be great for someone who loves shabby chic, and I think this set would go with just about any decor classic or contemporary.

Seventies Beige Bedding

And I think this collection has got to be the best combination of vintage, modern, and chic all rolled into one!  This one is called Seventies.  I think they certainly named it right.  Just look at those great vintage patterns.  And yet, I the neutral colors help to give it a very chic and almost elegant look!  This actually may be my favorite set on the entire site.

Guest Room Supplies

Frette also has everything you need to make your home guest ready, including robes, slippers, towels, candles, and soaps.  Go check out their site for other designer items for your home!

Focal Points to Add Personality to Your Space

You don’t need to hire an expensive designer or completely overhaul your home in order to add some elements of your own personal style into your decor. Decorating may seem overwhelming with all the other things you balance in a daily basis, including family, work, chores, and a social life. But sometimes the best way to decorate isn’t to add more things to your home — it’s to minimize and focus on some key focal points that exemplify your personality. Here are a few ideas to help you create fun, eye-pleasing focal points that will awe your guests and comfort you in your own space. [Read more…]

Dryer Sheet Wreath

Although I make jewelry, I’ve never otherwise considered myself to be a very crafty person.  I believe I can cook…people love my cooking!  And I also love to write poetry and write here on this blog.  But my attempts at art are generally bad!  For this reason, I try to keep projects simple!  One thing that I’ve found just about anyone can do is make wreaths!  Today I’ve got a very simple Valentine’s Day Wreath that I made out of used dryer sheets!

Easy Easter Egg Banner

I was decorating for Easter a few weeks ago, and I had all these foam eggs.  At first I was going to hang them in various places in the kitchen, but then I got this fun idea to turn the eggs into a banner.
This is a very easy and inexpensive project, and I was really pleased with how it turned out.  And it just happened to go great with this “Happy Easter” banner I already had.
What you need:
Foam Egg Sheets
Ribbon
You should be able to find the foam egg sheets at Wal-Mart, a craft store, or possibly a dollar store.  The holes were already punched in these, but you can always use a punch that works with foam if you can’t find any sheets like these.
Cut your ribbon in to 6-8 inch pieces.  You could actually go shorter with the ribbon, but I like the look of the longer ribbon.  Loop the ribbon  through the holes of two foam sheets. Tie the ribbon into a knot.  Keep adding eggs in the same way until you have the desired length.  On each end of the banner, take a piece of ribbon and loop it through a hole; tie a knot.  (These ribbons on the end will be used for hanging.)   To give the ends a more cute and “finished” look, take a second ribbon and loop it through the hole, but this time tie the ribbon in to a bow.
Another thing to consider is adding additional ribbons.  I thought about tying additional ribbons through the bottom wholes or tying ribbons through the middle of the eggs, but in the end I just decided to keep it simple.
