If you read my blog frequently, you know that my family and I love to watch football on Saturday, and we always like to have something delicious to go along with the game.  For us, this usually means that we’re eating something greasy or spicy, or both!  And unfortunately, as much as I love those foods, they can take a toll on your stomach.  For that reason, I always take Nexium® 24HR, so that I can stop heartburn before it starts.  Today I’m going to discuss why I love Nexium® 24HR, and I’m going to share a delicious homegating recipe for Crockpot Chicken Tacos.

nexium-24hr

Nexium® 24HR is for the treatment of frequent heartburn.  It should be taken every day for best results, and it may take 1 to 4 days for full effect. You should always read the product packaging and refer to the company’s website before taking the product.

I’ve always found the product to be very effective against my own heartburn, and I love that you just take one pill.  And it is also the #1 choice of Doctors and Pharmacists* for their own frequent heartburn.” *Among PCPs and Pharmacists who use a branded OTC PPI.

The 42 count package is also actually organized in to three 14-count bottles.  I find this more convenient than a larger bottle.  And if you have more than one person in your household who takes the medication, then you can each have your own bottle.

nexium-at-walmart

Nexium® 24HR is in the healthcare section at Walmart.  You can find it in the stomach care aisle, and right now you can find a special display for the 42 count package. The product is available in capsule and tablets.  And on top of Walmart’s every day low prices, the 42 count box currently has a $3 off coupon that you can pull off and use right at the register.

As promised, I also have a tailgating recipe!  My family just loves tacos and Mexican food, and so I’m always looking for new recipes with a little Mexican flavor!  I also love looking for new recipes that allow me to use my crockpot, so this one is right up alley.

crockpot-chicken-taco-meat

This recipe features skinless, boneless chicken breasts and a few simple ingredients!  Like most crockpot recipes, you can whip this up in the morning and allow it to cook until you are ready to serve, or you can even cook up your meat the night before and just reheat it the next day.

Then after you meat is prepared, you just add your favorite tortillas or chips, and serve your tacos or taco salads up with all the fixings!

I love this time of year.  Where I live, the temperatures were in the upper 80s and low 90s throughout September, so it didn’t feel like fall weather, but football season is definitely in the air, and that is a great thing! Dr Pepper®  is a sponsor of college football and the college football championship, and they are teaming up to offer shoppers great deals at Publix for all their football watch party and tailgating party needs.  Since our Saturdays are filled with football, family, and food, I have to keep a lot of drinks and snacks on hand, and I’m always happy to find deals on the snacks we love.  Today I’ll be sharing a few of my ideas for how you can take advantage of these great deals at Publix and make Dr Pepper and Nestle HOT POCKETS® brand sandwiches a part of your football celebration.

dr-pepper-float-bar

You will be the star of your own football party when you create your very own Dr Pepper Floats Bar.  This is such a fun and delicious idea!  You’ll of course need some and a couple of flavors of ice cream for the main ingredients of the floats.  Here I used French vanilla and butter pecan, but I have to tell you that chocolate ice cream is great for  Dr Pepper  floats as well!

And of course, you will need glassware.  I like to put out a couple of different sizes and types of glasses out, simply because in our family one person may want a large float, while someone else may want just a small serving.  You should also have some toppings and add-ins like chocolate syrup, whipped cream, cherries, and candy toppings.  And if you’d like to give your guests the option of blending their float, you should have a blender or hand blender on hand.

As you can see, it is a very simple, yet nice and presentable set up.

Apart from floats, I absolutely love blended floats and shakes.  Today I’ve got a very simple recipe for Dr Pepper Shakes.

dr-pepper-shake

Recipe for Dr Pepper Shakes

Ingredients:

1 cup french vanilla ice cream (or other flavor of your choice)

2/3 cup milk

1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

1/2 cup Dr Pepper

splash of Dr Pepper to create foamy top (optional)

Directions:  Blend together ice cream, milk, and chocolate syrup.  Mixture should be pretty thick; if it seems thin, add additional ice cream and reblend.  Next blend in your Dr Pepper.  Pour shake up into a glass and add a splash of Dr Pepper to create foam at the top.

Other Topping Options and Substitutions:

  • Whipped cream and cherry.
  • Whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
  • Whipped cream with chopped candies or sprinkles.
  • You can also leave the chocolate syrup out and go with plain vanilla, or use other syrups like caramel, butterscotch, and strawberry.
  • To change this recipe from a shake to a blended float, leave out the milk and add extra Dr Pepper.

hot-pockets-bar

Just as the Dr Pepper can be used as part of a float bar, the HOT POCKETS® brand sandwiches can used in a bar of their own.  This works out great for us, because we  like to put out a number of finger foods and snacks so that everyone can come, eat, and go, as they please, and making your own HOT POCKET® is as easy as you can get!

Simply lay out a few of your favorite HOT POCKETS® flavor options.  I love Ham & Cheddar, but the rest of my family love the Cheddar Cheeseburger and the Pepperoni Pizza varieties.

Then add a few dipping sauces to add on the side.  A few suggestions I have are ranch dressing, ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, and barbecue sauce.  You’ll also need some ramekins for your sauce, food plates, and forks.

ham-and-cheese-pocket

In about 2 minutes anyone can fix up their own snack. (That means it can even be done during the commercials!)  And the best part is that you don’t have to spend a lot of time in your kitchen cooking while everyone else is enjoying the games.

The countdown to back to school is officially on.  Next week we are going to pay our son’s class fees so that he can get his school schedule, and then we’ll be buying school supplies and shopping for new clothes.  And even though we’ve still got a couple of weeks to go, I’m already thinking of menu ideas for all those back to school weeknights.  If you read my blog regularly or just look at the title, you will know that I embrace simple solutions, and that includes simple meal ideas.  Simple meals made with simple ingredients not only save me a lot of time and hassle, but they make my family happy.  And the great thing about some of our favorite meals, is that I can easily change them up to create all new favorites!

One of my son’s favorite meals is tacos.  I think he would eat tacos every single day if we would let him!  While I don’t want to cook tacos every night, I do enjoy coming up with similar alternatives to tacos such as quesadillas and Mexican Pizzas!  Today I’m going to show you how we make our Mexican Pizzas, and I’ve also got some coupon deals on Campbell’s products like Pace Chunky Salsa! Cooking is one of my favorite household chores.  If you’ve checked out my recipe section, you know that I love making casseroles and baked side.  Not only is it delicious comfort food, but it’s also generally easy to make. However, these dishes are the hardest to clean, and washing dishes just happens to be my least favorite chore!  After dinner, I especially find it hard to break myself away to do dishes and clean up the kitchen, but it must be done!  Today I’m going to share my latest dish washing tool that’s taking my kitchen sink by storm.  Plus, I have a delicious recipe for Buffalo Chicken Macaroni & Cheese to share with, and I have some ideas to help keep your kitchen clean and clutter-free. No Bake Banana Pudding Pie

Banana Pudding Pie and Slice

I LOVE banana pudding.  When I was growing up, it was one of my favorite sweets!  A few years ago, I ran across a great uncooked banana pudding.  I posted the recipe here, and to this day, it is still one of my site’s most visited posts.  I love banana pudding anytime of year, but I think of it as one of the official desserts of summer, so the other day, I decided to make it, but this time, I decided to do something a little different…a banana pudding pie!
