Molasses Cookie Stack

Every year I look forward to holiday baking. I usually have a list of the tried and true recipes I want to make, as well as a few new ones. Of course, I never get around to making all of them, but it’s fun thinking about it just the same. And when I do bake, I always have more than we will ever eat at our house.  No worries! For me, it just means it’s a great opportunity for gift giving and sharing.  But not everyone can eat sweets.  Have you ever given cookies or candy to someone, only to find out that they can’t eat sweet due to diabetes or other dietary restrictions?  I’ve done this a couple of times!   It’s embarrassing for you, and the even worse, the giftee is tempted to break their diet!

Enter Splenda!  A lot of people know Splenda as a no calorie sweetener for things like coffee and cereal, but what you may not  know is that Splenda actually has products especially for baking.  Their product line includes: [Read more…]

DIY Christmas Wall Art and the Dremel® Micro™ 8050

Christmas is in the air!  I visited my local craft store the other day and was blown away by all the decorations!  It makes it very easy to get inspired to create your own holiday decorations and gifts!  A while back, I received the new Dremel® Micro™ 8050.  This rotary tool is perfect for crafters, hobbyists, and DIYers.  It allows you to cut, carve, engrave, sand, grind, sharpen, clean and polish.  The tool comes with a number of attachments for completing these projects, and it is also fully compatible with all other Dremel rotary tools accessories.  And it’s just $89, making it a great buy on a Christmas gift for your favorite DIYer!

Dremel

When I got my new Dremel, I immediately thought of all the different ways it could be used for home decor projects.  I got my husband involved, as he is the fixer and the tool guy around here.  I told him that I wanted to make some kind of sign or wall art for Christmas.  After a lot of back and forth, we came up with, what I think is, a great collaboration!

DIY Christmas Wall Art

This Christmas craft is a very affordable project.  As you can see in my picture below, I bought several products that I didn’t use in the final product, so in all, the materials actually used in the project add up to around $15 (which includes the paint I can use again later). [Read more…]

Holiday Party Time

Do you ever struggle to find unique recipes and foods for your holiday party?  Personally I love eating anything and everything around the holiday season, from mouthwatering, savory apps to turkey & dressing, but it can be quite easy to get tired of the “same ole menu” year after year.  Personally I love appetizers for our football parties and of course, New Year’s Eve, and although I have a lot of different teams I can make, every now and then I have to break out of the rut and try something new.  Today I’m sharing a fun idea that you can incorporate in to your holiday party, namely your appetizer parties, although the concept can easily be applied to a sit-down dinner party.  Last weekend I made an “Around the World Appetizer Buffet”  featuring appetizers inspired by other countries.  My buffet featured American, Italian, and Asian cusine.
