I love spring! It is the season of renewal, and as the flowers and trees come in to bloom, we follow suit, deep cleaning and re-organizing our houses. Spring is also the perfect time to renew and freshen up our personal style. It’s a great time to update our wardrobes with spring colors and trends, and it’s a fun time to experiment with new makeup and hair styles! I know I’ve seen some really cute tops that I’d love to buy, and I’m definitely due for a hair cut soon, but this spring, I’m also rethinking my hair color. No, I’m not planning on going blonde or turning in to a red head; I LOVE being a brunette! Christmas is just around the corner! Have you done all your holiday shopping yet? Our son is 15, and believe it or not, we’ve not only bought almost all of his presents, but we’ve actually already given him most of his gifts. I think it started back in October; our Etsy shop had a huge order, and we decided to splurge on a few things.

In that whole process, we decided to go ahead and buy him a computer desk that he’s been begging us for. Then his computer chair needed replacing….next we took advantage of some Black Friday clothing sales and decided to let him go ahead and have those items so that he could wear them to school, and I guess you could say that it then spiraled out of control with a video game here and a video game there, etc.

But we’re still going to get him one or two “fun gifts” and some essentials so that he will have something to open for Christmas! [Read more…]

Of course, every naturally curly-haired girl wants to have straight hair, so when I got to be school aged, I told my mom I wanted long, straight hair! She let me grow it out, and for years we went through the blow dry and straightening routine, but being from the South, my straight hair would turn to frizz in no time! A lot of people recommend setting aside a time once a month or twice a month for a night out with the spouse, but I believe you don’t have to set aside specific time. Just plan a date whenever you can. In fact, be spontaneous, whenever possible! But if you must set aside a special time, then you definitely want to be prepared and feel your best before your date. Are you ready for summer? We’ve got just a week to go, and school’s out here! (So hard to believe!)

In some ways I think of summer as being the season when everything slows down…there is no driving to school; you generally have less school and community activities, etc…but while our kid is spending less time at school and more time at home that also means we have to buy more supplies. We have to buy extra quick foods and snacks, summer clothes and accessories, and of course, summer health and beauty items.

Luckily Walgreen’s is a one stop shop for health and beauty items and their weekly ads, coupons and Balance Rewards help me to save money on all my summer must-have brands like Listerine, Band-Aid, Neutrogena, and Neosporin. [Read more…]
