10 Health and Beauty Must Haves for that Time of the Month

As a wife, mom, and all around organized person, I always like to prepared for everything!  This means making sure my home is stocked with supplies I need for any situation.  If someone gets hurt or sick, I have plenty of medicines for just about every ailment!  If we have a school or blogging project to do, we have tools and supplies for that!

And when it’s “that time of the month” I have to be just as prepared…if not more so!

U by Kotex Products

I am lucky to have a husband who doesn’t mind going to the store for feminine hygiene products, medicine, and anything else I need, but obviously I prefer to already have the things I need when I need them!

Today I’m sharing 10 must-haves for that time of the month.  These are items that I need in order to feel fresh, healthy, and beautiful!

Feminine Hygiene Aisle at CVS

I picked U by Kotex pads and liners at my local CVS store.  The products can be found in the feminine hygiene section.

Right now CVS is also offering a coupon, which you can clip and print online.  It will help you to save $2 off the products on top of the great sale prices that CVS offers!

U by Kotex

  1. U by Kotex pads/tampons – U by Kotex has pads and tampons for regular and heavy days, and they come in a variety of styles to fit your preferences.
  2. U by Kotex liners – For lighter days, U by Kotex offers liners.  This is also a great product to keep in your purse “just in case.”

Healthcare Needs

3. Menstrual Relief Medicine – I suffer from migraines, and in and around that time of the month, they generally increase, and I’m also prone to bad cramping, so I always have to keep menstrual relief medication on hand, so that I can cut the pains off early before they really start to kick in.

4. Disposable heat wrap or electronic heating pad – For extreme cramping, a disposable heat wrap or electronic heating pad is a MUST for me!  The disposable wraps are good to have when you’re busy working at home or when you have to leave the house, and the electronic heating pads are great if you actually have the time to rest in a chair or even take a nap!

5. Gatorade and/or Bottled Water – Hydration is a necessity, and during that time of the month, it is especially important. By remaining hydrated, chances of the body retaining water decrease and painful bloating subsides.  Staying hydrated can also keep the migraines away.   Additionally, I like to drink Gatorade.  My doctor recommended that I drink this for my headaches in order to stay hydrated and get some much needed electrolytes.

6. Caffeinated Beverages –  If you have extreme cramping and PMS symptoms, caffiene is actually a BAD thing for you!  However, if you can tolerate it, sodas and coffee are a great thing to have on hand in order to maintain your energy levels, and they can help with headaches.

Beauty Needs

Life doesn’t stop just because it’s that’s time of the month!  You have to do the shopping, go to school functions, etc.  And that means, you not only want to feel good, you want to look good!  Don’t get me wrong….I often go to the store looking less than spectacular with no makeup on and messy hair.  But sometimes you have to do what you have to do to feel confident and beautiful!  That’s why the rest of this list deals with beauty, and luckily CVS has a variety of cosmetics, making it a one stop shop for health and beauty!

7. Face Makeup – If I wear only one type of makeup, it is going to be face makeup!  It adds color, and it covers up imperfections.

8. Eye shadow – Eye shadow is probably my second favorite type of makeup to wear.  Although I love the definition that eyeliner provides, if I’m in a super hurry, I can deal with just the shadow.  I like to use light and natural colors that shimmer, and this helps to cover up dark circles and gives me a youthful glow and appearance.

9. Lipstick – Once your cheeks and eyes colored, you HAVE to brighten up those lips!  I like to go with a natural shade and then top that off with a nice gloss that really glistens and shines!

Cute and Comfy Outfit

10. Cute and Comfy Outfit –  Just because it’s that time of the month, does not mean you are stuck wearing sweatpants!  (In fact, sometimes you have plans to go out, and you have no choice but to skip the sweatpants). I like to have clothes that look great for going out and are still comfortable.  Yoga pants are very much in style, so take advantage of the trend!

Also, consider blue jeans.  The blue jeans available these days are nothing like the jeans of my youth.  They are super cute, and yet they are also super comfortable!   Pair your yoga pants or jeans with a cute sweater, and you’ve got a fabulous fall outfit, that’s fit to be worn while you’re shopping, volunteering at school, or going to dinner!

  1. My must have for that time of the month is chocolate.

  2. I like how you mentioned having comfy outfits on hand that still make you feel confident. It’s so easy to get into that yoga pants/tank top rut during that time of the month, but it’s also important to feel beautiful! #client

  3. I agree with Elena. Chocolate always helps me get through it and of course a hot bath. 🙂

  4. Oh what a great list! The only other one for me is chocolate! 🙂
