Jello University Kit

My family is very excited for football season to be starting!  My husband has already explained to me that the television station will be glued to the SEC Network, so that if I don’t want to watch sports, I can plan accordingly and go to the next room. Haha!  But actually I really enjoy football and I especially love watching our team the Crimson Tide!  And I also look forward each week to game day food!

We usually order out or make something early that will last the day, and game day food is generally “man food.”  We like appetizers, especially chicken fingers and wings! But we also sometimes go for things like meatballs, sausage balls, cocktail weenies, cheesesticks, cheese fries, or chips and dip.  And other times we like simple meals like sub sandwiches, grilled burgers, chili dogs, pizza, and barbecue sandwiches. Yes, we do love to eat!

As much as I love all the salty and spicy goodness of game day, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t crave something sweet!  So today I am sharing a simple dessert that you can prepare to make your game day even sweeter!  I took my recipe for strawberry pretzel salad and turned it in to a kid-friendly game day treat: Strawberry Pretzel Parfaits.  And I added a little extra team spirit to the treat using Jell-O University Molds! Noah Birdwell

Noah started his freshman year of high school nearly two weeks ago.  So far he seems to like it okay.  It is hard to believe he is in high school; I think this is something that sneaks up on parents and most find they aren’t “ready” for it.  When we took him to band camps during the summer, his dad first looked around and said, “It’s so weird to drop off Noah here, and most of these kids actually drove themselves. He’s too young for all this!”  And he’s also remarked, “Wow, some of these kids have facial hair!”  haha.

But aside from the basic anxieties, I think everyone is excited about the school year.  I’m not sure if Noah is excited about all this pre-AP coursework he signed up for, but I know he’s very excited about being in band this year, and he’s look forward to this year’s band trip.

After School Snacking with Bagel Bites and Delimex

School is starting here this week, and with the start of a new school year, after school snacks are a MUST! This year our son will be a “big 9th grader.”  With a course load of pre-ap classes, as well as marching band and other school activities, it is sure to be a fun and exciting, yet challenging year!  This fall will be especially hectic, as he will have band practice 3 days a week, plus his Friday football game activities participation.  (And let’s not forget homework!) Kool-Aid Drink Cart

With summer time comes a season of picnics, pool parties, and backyard barbecues.  We just set up new patio furniture and a new grill on our back deck and have already grilled three times in the past couple of weeks.  If you’re planning any backyard barbecues yourself, Kool-Aid can certainly help you out with some cool drinks and refreshments.  Without a doubt, I’m sure you are familiar with the Kool-Aid powders, Jammers, and other products.  But did you know Kool-Aid also comes in a Ready to Drink 96 ounce bottle? White Chocolate Marshmallow Popcorn Treats

Love is in the air this week!  I celebrated Valentine’s Day early with these fun, sweet, and cute  White Chocolate Marshmallow Popcorn Treats.  The recipe is adapted from Jolly Time’s recipe for Choco-Cherry Heart Bouquets.  The folks at Jolly Time were kind enough to send me the supplies needed for this recipe, including a box of their buttered popcorn, and I was really happy with how the treats turned out!

These would make a perfect homemade gift for the one you love, especially the kids!  It would also be a great treat for Valentine’s Day parties and a great recipe to make with the kids for a Valentine’s Day activity.  Hope you enjoy!
