Straight Teeth with Invisalign Teeth – With Giveaway! #InvisalignTalk

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post for Invisalign. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Were you born with perfectly white, perfectly straight, perfectly perfect smile?  If you’re like me the answer is no.  I’ve pretty much always had problems with my teeth including cavities when I was young, and then I had to have oral surgery and get braces when I was 14.

We didn’t have Invisalign Teen when I was a kid, so I was stuck with the traditional metal braces. If you’ve never had to endure this, I’d describe them with one word: pain.  It’s painful when they first get put on, and your teeth hurt every month, when it comes time to have them tightened, that is a pain.  It can also be difficult to brush and floss around.  Since I’ve had my braces off, I’ve continued to have problems with my teeth, and I’ve had to have a lot of procedures, including filling, root canals, and crowns, not to mention, I still have white marks where some of the brackets were on my braces. Disclosure: I was chosen to blog about Filtrete Filters as part of a Mom it Forward Campaign. The opinions are my own.

Filtrete

Are you working on any summer clean up or DIY projects?  Right now we’re in the process of doing some outside projects like, redecorating our porch and cleaning out our outbuilding.  But with the hot summer weather upon us, we’ll also be spending a lot of time indoors, and we will be using  Filtrete Filters to ensure good air quality.

Key Lime Pie on a Stick

What could be better than a slice of Key Lime Pie in the summer?  How about Key Lime Pie on stick?  Today our friends at 2CookinMamas.com are showing us how to make this yummy creation.  Hope you enjoy!

Key Lime Pie on a Stick 1

2CookinMamas photoHi!  I’m Linda and I blog with my daughter Christina on 2CookinMamas.com.  We love to cook, eat and repeat and often do so with a mama’s cocktail in hand!  But…we lead a double life, in the kitchen that is.  I enjoy making yummy desserts and gourmet meals while Christina enjoys gluten-free cooking.  We both work outside the kitchen too so all our dishes are created to be quick and easy for Moms-on-the-go.  Christina is a certified nutritionist & DDP Yoga instructor and I’m a VP of Marketing & Sales.  We recently published our very first cookbook for the expecting Mom: The Pregnancy Cookbook, which has over 60 delicious, healthy, quick & easy recipes as well as nutrition tips for Mom and baby.  We’d love for you to stop on by and grab a recipe or just say hi!  And if you try one of our recipes please let us know by leaving a comment and sharing the love!

Jerri was nice enough to extend an invitation to us to be guest bloggers on her “Summer Themed” recipe series. We are thrilled and we can’t think of a better blog to be associated with. Thanks Jerri and now on to the recipe.

Summer always brings to mind the Florida Keys. Living in South Florida, we are only about 2 hours away from the northernmost key, Key Largo, and about 4 hours from Key West, so it is only a hop, skip and a jump to get away for the weekend. And the Keys are so laid back, I mean really laid back, so much so that you feel like you are a world away from the mainland.

One of our favorite desserts that seems to only be offered in the Keys is Key Lime Pie on a Stick. What is that you say? Well, it is a cold and refreshing piece of tart key lime pie, graham cracker crust and all, coated in sweet chocolate, and stuck on a stick for easy eating. Our version is smaller and rectangular instead of pie shape but just as mouth wateringly delicious as the original. Great for kids and adults alike on these hot summer days. Hope you enjoy! Summer Health & Beauty Series: Get the Red Carpet Look + Mary Kay Giveaway

Mary Kay Red Carpet

Do ever see stars on the red carpet and wish you could have their look?  Now you can!  Recently stars showed up on the Met Gala Red Carpet, sporting makeup products from Mary Kay.  Today we are looking at Emma Stone’s Natural Beauty Look and Selena Gomez’s Dramatic Beauty Look.  But instead of just showing you pictures of the ladies, I also have a rundown on the products and techniques you will need to replicate their looks.

Let’s start with Emma Stone.  I actually received a kit of all the products needed for this look.  I chose Emma’s look because we have similar skin tones, and I generally go for a more natural look when it comes to make up.  What I love about Mary Kay is that they have very high quality products that are easy to use, and they products which appeal to all age groups and styles.  Their products also look and feel good on, and they generally last and hold up for the day, which is a real plus when you are on the go. Avoid Distracted Driving #DecidetoDrive

This week I’m teaming up with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Auto Alliance to promote a very special cause.  The Decide to Drive campaign was started to raise the awareness of distracted driving and its dangers.  Having known people, including family members who were involved in car accidents, this is a very important issue to me.  In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), of the nearly 33,000 roadway fatalities in 2012, there were 3,328 fatalities and approximately 421,000 injuries in distracted driving-related crashes. New York Life Celebrates Dads #KeepGoodGoing

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of New York Life for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

You’ve likely seen the commercials on television from New York Life, revolving around the theme of “Keep Good Going.”  These ads show little examples of people helping people in daily life.  The above video celebrates fatherhood and the the “Keep Good Going” theme.

Do you know a Stay-at-Home Super Dad?  Or do you know a working dad who should be recognized for the things they’ve done for their kids?  If so, New York Life invites you to share their stories.  Whether you have a great dad who supported your and taught you an important life lesson, or you, yourself are living the life of “super dad” tell us about it!

The video reminds me of my own dad. While he was unable to be a stay-at-home Dad, he was still very caring and supportive, and he taught me a lot of important life lessons.

When I was growing up, my dad worked in a plant.  While he could have found a job that paid more if he’d worked night shift, he found it was more important to be home with me at nights.  And when he wasn’t working at his job, his night job was doing the single dad thing.  From the time he got home from work, he stayed busy doing house work and yard work, as well as cooking, and running any household errands, but he always had time to help me with my homework and spend time with me.

Apart from the importance of family and hard work, my dad also taught me a lot about giving and helping others.  My dad was always there to help a family member or friend in need.  Whether he was carrying a pot of soup to a sick friend, taking medicine or food to my grandma, or mowing an elderly person’s yard, he has always been around to help anyone, even if they didn’t ask.
