Great fabric softeners and scent boosters are a must in my house! I always want to make sure the boys have extra fresh clothes (and me too!). Not to mention, there’s nothing like fresh sheets and blankets for the beds. Purex Crystals are a great product for this. I like them, because I don’t have to worry about the product staining or fading out our clothes the way some liquid products. They also give my clothes a very fresh scent, and I like that I can easily measure them out for any size load.

Caramel Apple Waffles with Aunt Jemima

There’s nothing like hot waffles for breakfast… that soft, chewy confection with the crispy, crunchy edges drenched in butter and syrup, has always been a classic favorite of mine. And Aunt Jemima makes it so easy a kid can do it.

This weekend Noah was making home made waffle in kitchen with just the push of a button. Now that’s convenient!

These days, however, the waffle has branched out. If you stroll the internet, you’ll find waffles topped with fruit, cream cheese, peanut butter, and even chocolate! Waffles also make a great bread substitute for your bacon, egg, & cheese sandwich, breakfast casserole recipes, and more! Minties Dog Treat Review

As you know, we love our animals here at Simply Sweet Home. Recently the dogs, Odie and Scrappy (or Ode & Scrap, if you will), got the chance to sample some Minties Dental Treats and try a little VetGuard Plus flea and mosquito treatment. Odie and Scrappy were very excited about the opportunity to try the Minties treat, because hey, it’s food! And we were excited about the prospects of offering them a treat with dental benefits….fresh breath and clean teeth. (Way easier than trying to use doggy toothpaste!)

Each Minties Dental Treat contains five natural ingredients that work in your dog’s mouth and stomach to promote fresh breath and reduce unpleasant odors:

Mint promotes minty fresh breath.
Parsley contains enzymes that help break down odor-causing particles in the stomach.
Dill helps inhibit bacterial growth and helps prevent early stages of gingivitis.
Fennel helps control bacteria and is a natural breath freshener.
Chlorophyll from alfalfa balances acid levels in the stomach and helps deodorize your dog’s body.

Both dogs enjoyed the treats. And we could definitely smell the mint on their breath! Scrappy liked his especially. He immediately went to town, eating it, and he growled when he thought we were going to take it from him. As he chomped on his bone, he was so into to it, he didn’t notice that small pieces of his bone had fallen on the floor. Odie seized this as an opportunity to eat Scrap’s…..err….scraps!

But Scrappy got his revenge….after he finished off his bone, we found Odie’s on the floor and starting chowing down on it too, an action which received much protest and indignation, in the form of barking from Odie.

Before we tried Minties, my husband wasn’t sure how the dogs would like them. Odie and Scrappy can be quite finicky when it comes to dog food after all, but they seemed to really like the treats, and I’m sure they would recommend them to you and your dogs!

My Fall Decor

With Halloween just around the corner (Can you believe it??), it seemed like a good time to share my fall decor. For the fall season, I find that a little goes a long way. By just adding a few items to a buffet table, fireplace, or front porch area, you can easily give your home a touch of fall.

Party Time with Cascade and a Giveaway

The biggest and most important tip to note……when you Cascade Platinum, NO pre-rinse is needed! A survey found that 46% of respondents thought that skipping the pre-rinse would lead to dirtier dishes, but Cascade Platinum has an advanced triple-action formula has powerful enzymes that break down even 24-hour stuck-on food for Cascade’s best clean and shine.

I’ve definitely seen the proof of this, having used the product for the last couple of months. Since I only run my machine two or three times a week, my dishes have plenty of time to set up and really put the product to the test.Cascade has worked great on everything from casserole dishes and crock pots to baking skillets and pans.

Skipping the pre-rinse not only helps your dishes to come out clean and shiny, but it also saves you time. Here are some other tips, I shared with my guests:

1. You can stack ’em high or stack ’em low. Just make sure bulky items don’t block the sprayer.

2. Place tall dishes & pans in the back of the bottom rack so they don’t block the detergent chamber.

3. Check your bottom. Place glasses and other fragile items in the top rack. This keeps them away from the powerful sprayer under the bottom rack.

4. Your tine to shine. Keep glasses looking great. Set them between tines on the rack, not over them. Wet contact points can cause spots.

5. Lock & load. Threading longer utensils through coffee mug handles can help keep them secure in the wash.

Publix October Fresh Savings Event

Fall is such a busy time of year. Just as you have transitioned in to a new school year, complete with after school snacks and quick weeknight meals, more cooking challenges arise with the arrival of football season and the upcoming holiday season.
