LifeLock: Protecting Your Identity Online
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LifeLock Facebook for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Identity theft has been a big problem for years, but now with so much of our lives online, we are more at risk of having our identity stolen. Through the internet, thieves can now steal your identity via phishing email, SMSishing (sending messages through your phone which look legitimate), using fake storefronts, peer-to-peer sharing sites, database breeches, or by simply taking a picture with their cell phone as you fill out a credit card application.
Here are some statistics on identity theft victims that you may not be aware of:
• Households earning $100k + per year have the highest identity fraud rate at 7.4%
• The average cost per person of having identities stolen is $1,513
• 11.6 million adults were victims of identity fraud in 2011 and a total of $18 billion was lost.
And here’s some data on identity theft among social media and smartphone users:
• 6.6% of victims are smartphone owners
• 6.8% of victims are social media users who click on the applications
• 8.2% of victims are social media users who have “checked in” using their smartphone GPS
• 10.1% of victims are LinkedIn users
If you are like me you may not have even thought about some of these scenarios. I, for one, would have never thought about the risks of checking in with your phone’s GPS. And I certainly wouldn’t have believed that 10.1% of LinkedIn users had been victims of identity theft.
And of course, once your are identity is stolen, they can use it to get credit cards in your name, access your bank account, seek employment, open up utilities accounts, and even apply for benefits in your name. This can hurt your credit, your employment records, and so much more.
And just think: What if the person who steals your identity commits a more serious crime? This scenario happened to my cousin Todd. Several years ago his identity was stolen, and then the person actually committed murder. So when Todd went to apply for a new job, they checked his background and thought that he had killed someone! For a while after this, he would have to put some kind of note with his job applications stating that his identity had been stolen and he was not a murderer (not exactly something that you want to add to your application). This went on for a few years. And then finally he hired a good attorney that was able to clear up his records so that it is no longer an issue. But if he’d only had LifeLock this could have been avoided!
LifeLock’s Services
Fortunately Lifelock can protect you again identity theft. They monitor you identity and alert you immediately if you have potential credit and non-credit threats. They also have an online dashboard where you can see current threats. They have 24/7 phone support, services to stop and cancel your credit and debit cards when your wallet is stolen, and they offer comprehensive recovery services if you become a victim of identity theft on our watch.
Aside from learning about LifeLock’s service and signing up for identity theft protection, you can also read some articles on identity theft and get answers to some questions you may have have about identity theft and your own online security. For instance, How hack friendly is your password? Lifelock has a list of the most commonly used passwords, which are easily hacked.
You can also get some great tips from LifeLock on Facebook. Go over, check it out, and join the conversation!

Friday Favorites – Week 135

Happy Friday everyone! Welcome to week 135 of Friday Favorites. Before we get to this week’s party, I want to remind everyone that my blogiversary is coming up next month. I’ve got some great sponsors and prizes lined up to celebrate the event, but I’d love to add more to the list. Check out this post for more info and fill out my sponsor sign up form!
Also, I changed the form to a Google Doc because I learned that someone’s form didn’t go through. I think it has something to do browsers, because I tried the form myself with 2 different browers and only one went through. So if you filled out the form last week and have not heard back from me, please fill out the new form. Thanks!
Planting Bulbs and a Yard Makeover with Curbside Chaos
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done. for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
What would you do with a $5000 yard makeover? We have a place in our yard where there used to be a tree. I would love to plant a new tree there and surround it with a bed of flowers. It would also be great to have some flowers around the mailbox and do some work on our flower beds.
Did you know that fall is the time to plant bulbs so that you can have beautiful blooms in the spring? Head over to Curbside Chaos and select the flowers you wish to plant, along with your region, and the month you wish for your flowers to bloom, and you will get a planting guide telling you when and how to plant your bulbs.
I created a gardening plan for Hyacinths to bloom in North Alabama in May:

And you can visit www.digdropdone.com to learn more about bulbs and get great planting tips and charts, and also learn other ways that you can use bulbs aside from gardening!
Also, get tips from the Dig. Drop. Done. Ladies. They are Marcy the Super Mom, Julia the Fashionista, and Evelyn the Emptynester. (Being a homemaker, I idenitify most with Marcy. How about you?)
Aside from helping people to make their yards beautiful, Dig. Drop. Done. helps those in need through Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading nonprofit, working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities.
For every share on twitter with the hashtag: #CurbsideChaos, Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done.” will donate $1.00 to Rebuilding Together.
Holiday Shopping at Kmart and Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

With the fall season fast approaching, you might be starting to think about holiday shopping and gift giving. If you are on a budget, layaway is a great option to help you to buy the things you want for your family and friends.
Did you know that Kmart has free layaway? And did you know that they offer layaway year round on all merchandise storewide? For these reasons and more Kmart’s layaway program far exceeds the programs of its competitors:

I think electronics make great holiday gifts. I recently saw a great deal on a television at another store but was unable to buy it that day. By the time I returned to the store, the television was sold already. Kmart has a great selection of televisions. One, in particular, that I’d like to get is this 32 inch LCD tv/dvd combo:

I also tend to eye the computers around the holiday season. Here’s a great one I found from Hewlett-Packard:

Right now you can win great prizes with Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway. The event is taking place September 9 through November 17. There’s a giveaway being held each week in every Kmart store nationwide! No purchase is necessary. Just visit your local Kmart location or check out their website for rules and details!
Two Cheese Salsa Chicken
I love dinners that require little work and only a few ingredients. One night I threw together this Two Cheese Salsa Chicken. It’s only 4 ingredients, but it’s full of flavor! Serve it alongside rice, beans, and tortilla chips, and you’ve got a complete restaurant quality meal!
