Oddka Vodka

When planning a party, the drinks you serve can make just as big a statement as the food and decor. And Oddka Vodka certainly makes a statement with their five unconventional flavors: Apple Pie, Electricity, Fresh Cut Grass, Salty Caramel Popcorn, and Wasabi.

Premium spirits and wine company Pernod Ricard launched this new brand of vodka, ODDKA® by Wyborowa in October 2012. ODDKA is available in 750 ml bottles in original, clear vodka and is currently available in Alabama, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, and will be expanding its national and global distribution in spring of 2013.

To introduce you to ODDKA, we have Wit Oddoski, the voice and inspiration of the ODDKA brand is Wit Oddoski, a virtual character in the real world. Wit was born as a 2-D line drawing, a rare condition that leads him to view the world a bit differently than others.

You’ll love his fun personality, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for his brand!

Here are just a few fun ideas on how you can add ODDKA Vodka to your next party.

Oddka’s Apple Pie flavor has a sweet taste of apples and cinnamon and mixes best with Fanta, Coke or Ginger Ale. After the presents are opened and the turkey is gone,  serve up some holiday cocktails using this festive flavor.  Or even break out the Apple Pie vodka for the 4th of July.

Or throw a movie themed party! Have a movie marathon of your favorite series or with a particular movie genre, or even watch your favorite series on DVR. (I love Game of Thrones!)  And serve up Oddka’s Salty Caramel Popcorn Vodka. It mixes best with Fanta, Ginger Ale, Coke or Iced Tea.

Or serve up a little Fresh Cut Grass at your next football party or barbecue. It’s crisp, citrusy, sweet and refreshing and mixes best with Dr. Pepper, Ginger Beer or Soda Water.

Regifting Survey from Bookoo and AMEX Gift Card Giveaway

When it comes time for holiday gift giving, one of the topics often discussed is the concept of regfiting.  How do you feel about regifting?  Have you ever done it? Do you plan to do it this year?  Did you ever receive a gift that you suspected was regifted? The online local yardsale site Bookoo.com recently conducted a survey on regifting, which yielded some interesting results.  Today we are going to have a little fun and check out some of the findings from the survey.

While frowned upon by some, the survey found that a whopping 92 percent believe it’s completely acceptable to regift items, and more than 87 percent believe they too have been a recipient of a regifted item. And, with shoppers looking to save more and spend less this holiday season, more than 62 percent plan to regift an item to a friend, neighbor or colleague for the holidays.

The survey also found that people most commonly regift because they feel that someone else will appreciate the item more than they do (62.6%) or they couldn’t use the gift personally (53.7%).  And with all this regifting going on, 87% of respondents said they suspected they had been the recipient of a regifted item.

I was personally interested to find that that the survey said that women were more like to regift than men, at a ratio of three to one, and 62% of respondents are planning to regift during the 2012 holiday season.

The survey also found that while some are good at hiding their regifting by rewrapping and inspecting the item and removing any gift cards or receipts from the previous giver, and planning ahead and making sure they do not give the gift to anyone associated with the original gifter, others don’t do as a good a job.  Some of their regifting mistakes include giving 2 year old fruit cake, toys with broken pieces, outdated desk calendars, and my favorite–gift cards that are partially used!

Giveaway! Two Simply Sweet Home readers will win $50 AMEX gift cards.

Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade No Knead Bread Mix Review

simply homemade bread

In my family I’ve always been known as the bread lover.  Homemade bread is one of my favorite things in the world to eat!  But I’ve always been a little intimidated about making my own. (Not to mention, it’s a little time consuming, etc.) But now Fleischmann’s is making it a whole lot easier to make your own homemade bread with their new Simply Homemade No Knead Bread Mix.

Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade No Knead Bread Mix allows home bakers to prepare freshly-baked yeast bread in just three easy steps.  Simply stir together the ingredients in your with some water, let it rise, and then bake!  So quick and easy!

This mix is perfect for beginning or experienced bread makers. And it makes some really great bread!  This would be great to use for family dinners, holiday parties, as well as holiday gift giving.

The bread mix comes in four different varieties:  Country White, Stoneground Wheat, Multi-Grain and Italian Herb varieties.

I received the Stoneground Wheat and the Italian Herb varieties for review purposes, and I was very pleased with how they turned out.

My favorite was the Stoneground Wheat.  It was so delicious, and I was surprised by just how much it tasted like homemade bread.  Even the consistency and density was just like that of homemade.  My aunt makes a lot of homemade bread, and this actually reminded me of the breads she makes.

I would be happy to serve a loaf of this bread at my own home or to take along to a holiday party. The bread would also be great to bake for neighbors, coworkers or family gifts.

And you can even use the bread mixes as a base for other recipes.  Simply add a few ingredients to make other bread flavors, and even main dishes and desserts,

Look for Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade No Knead Bread Mix in your local grocery store.  Also, connect with them on their Facebook.

Apart from  reviewing this wonderful bread mix, I’m also pleased to share some tips and tricks from Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade Soleil Moon Frye (from Punky Brewster).

Simply Homemade Tips:
1. Make “Homemade” Simpler. My family loves homemade food and great flavors, but baking from scratch sometimes isn’t possible with our crazy schedules. I love that with Fleischmann’s® Simply Homemade® bread mix, I can make fresh-baked bread with my family more often and in less than an hour. Plus, it’s a fun activity that my family gets to share together in the kitchen.

2. Let Kids Pick The Mix-Ins. I try to make food as fun and exciting as my mother did for me. One of my favorite things to do is let my girls choose the mix-ins when I bake. Whether it’s adding candy to pancakes or fun mix-ins in fresh bread. It lets them know that their ideas and opinions are really important to me… and who’s to say that chocolate chips shouldn’t go in with Fleischmann’s® Simply Homemade® Cinnamon Raisin bread?

Baking / Food – Related Tips:
1. Create Traditions. Traditions have always been important to me, but they don’t have to be big things. My husband and I designate every Sunday as our family day. Every Sunday night we have a special, homemade family dinner and take time to talk about what we are grateful for.

2. Baking As Stress Relief. I love baking, it’s like a therapy. I have found such joy out of baking and it’s something I can do with my little ones that makes us all happy. When I’m frustrated – rather than screaming or crying – I love to put on my favorite music and bake like crazy – let the flour fly, batter drip – and just let go and have fun.

3. Encourage Flavor Experimentation. With picky eaters, it’s a great idea to prepare things they love while introducing one or two new things at a time. Then they can experiment with a spoonful of something new as opposed to a whole plate of it.

Parenting / Lifestyle Tips:
1. Embrace Happy Chaos. I believe “happy chaos” is the sign of a family operating at its best – when parents accept that they’ll make mistakes and will experience messes, tears and skinned knees.

Do you love homemade bread?  Which of these bread mixes would you love to try?

Guest Post: Hot Chocolate Floats from Keri at Shaken Together

Today we have another fun guest post! This one is from Keri at shaken together, and she’s made us a yummy treat:  Hot Chocolate Floats.  Take it away Keri!

Hi there, Simply Sweet Home friends!  My name is Keri and I blog over at shaken together!!

Shaken Together

It’s my home away from home where I share recipes, easy crafts/DIY projects, giveaways, a weekly link party and snippets of our life with 12 years of marriage and counting, two kids and two cats … you know, our life, shaken together!  I would love to connect with you at my blog, on FacebookTwitter or Pinterest!

Today, I am so excited that Jerri invited me to share one of our family’s favorite holiday treats …

There is nothing better than a rich mug of hot chocolate on a cold night, right?!  Well, unless it is topped with a scoop of ice cream, sprinkles and maybe a drizzle of hot fudge!

Whip up a batch of hot chocolate – you can use instant mix, I won’t judge – but there are tons of easy recipes for homemade hot chocolate that will probably rock your socks off 🙂  I am dying to try this hot chocolate mix from Something Swanky!

Anyway, gather your mugs and fill about 2/3 full with your hot chocolate.  Add a scoop of ice cream (we used peppermint!) and sprinkle on your favorite toppings.  I added a drizzle of warm hot fudge and festive holiday sprinkles!

This is seriously the best of both worlds … an ice cream sundae and a sweet steamy mug of hot chocolate!!

Jerri, thanks so much for the opportunity to share this sweet treat with your readers!  Hope to see you all again soon!  And happy, happy holidays!

Thanks again to Keri for posting here today!

Fun Ideas for Holiday Duck Tape®

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Duck Brand® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you love to craft and get creative, you love the new holiday prints of Duck® Brand duct tape.  The prints include cute polka dots, reindeer, candy cane stripes, snow men, and more!

My favorite print is the polka dots.  I love the bright colors in red, pink, and green, and polka dots are always fun!

This would be great to use in your holiday shipping, whether you need to seal an envelope or box, or even give your box some extra flair.  You can even use Duck Tape® instead of ribbon in your gift wrapping, or use the tape to make fun bows for your packages.

Printed duct tape is also a great crafting supply.  One fun and easy project that I would like to take on, using the Duck Tape® is to make a wreath.  You can find a foam wreath form online or at your local craft store starting as low as $3.  Then just wrap the Duck Tape® round and round the wreath until is wreath is covered.  Then just add ribbon to hang it by.   You could even mix and match two or three different prints on the same wreath.

The Duck Tape® website also has some really cute ideas for making your own Duck Tape® fashion accessories like bows, headbands, bracelets, and even bags!  These would be great projects to work on with your kids over the holidays, and the great thing is, the Duck Brand® site has projects for all sill levels: beginner, intermediate, and Advanced.

For product information, including updates on all the newest prints, contests, and more project ideas. becoe a fan of Duck Tape® on Facebook.
