The Odd Life of Timothy Green Giveaway

Today I’m excited to be giving away a copy of one of the latest films from Disney.   Set to release on December 4, Disney brings enchantment home with The Odd Life of Timothy Green , an inspiring, magical story for the whole family starring Jennifer Garner.

Cindy (Garner) and Jim Green are a happily married couple who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim – and their small town of Stanleyville – learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts. From Academy Award-nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (About A Boy, Best Adapted Screenplay, 2002; Dan In Real Life; What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?), it’s a heart warming celebration of family as only Disney can deliver.

Here’s a movie trailer:

I’m a big fan of Disney’s family movies, and I’m reallly excited to watch this one.  It looks like it will be a cute movie, and I think it would be a great Christmas present that the entire family could enjoy together.

Stress Free Cats with Comfort Zone® with Feliway®

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Comfort Zone® products for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

As many of you know, I love my kitty cats.  I got Dixie Belle and Rebel when they were 2 months old, and If have had them now for four and a half years.  Then late last year a little white cat we now call Sugar Belle showed up at my dad’s house, and I offered to take her to get her fixed. I got a little attached to her, and long story short, she is still here!

My cats are mostly well behaved.  But they do get a little scared when people are around.  Rebel has just finally gotten to a point where he will come in the living room when “strangers” are here, and Dixie runs away when someone comes over.  And both Rebel and Dixie are terrified of Sugar Belle.

One thing I’ve been pleased with about all three cats is that they don’t have any problems with urine marking, but occasionally we do have issues with scratching.

So for all the reasons I have mentioned, I’ve been interested in trying Comfort Zone® with Feliway®, and I was very excited to receive a sample of the product.

Comfort Zone® with Feliway® products help reduce stress-related behavior in cats by mimicking their natural pheromones that help them feel calm and comfortable in their environment.  The products are 95% effective at reducing scratching and urine marking for cats after 90 days of continuous use.

The product is a diffuser that continuously releases an odorless vapor that mimics the soothing feline facial pheromone, and you just plug it in where your cat spends most of its time to keep it calm.

I’ve got mine plugged up in our living room.  Actually Rebel and Dixie Belle spend most of their time in our office, but I decided to place it in the living room, so it would be centrally located.  Thisis also the room where the “strangers” always enter, and a place where I’d like some help saving my furniture, so I’m hoping it will be effective.

So far I’ve noticed  a couple of things.  My mom came over the other day, and Dixie not only came in the room with me, but she also went over to my mom to get petted.   And Sugar Belle, who’s still pretty wild because she is young and untrained, seems to be calming down.

Comfort Zone® with Feliway® also comes in a spray that I would like to try.  You can spray it on places where the cats mark or scratch.  And you can also use it in pet carriers before taking your cat on a trip.  Rebel and Dixie completely panic when they are put in a carrier, so I think this would be a lifesaver for trips to the vet.

Drive Safer with the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pep Boys for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I finally saw some signs of fall this week.  We had a a couple of rainy days and nights, followed by a couple of cool days that began with thick fog! I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of driving at night, and I’ve always hated driving in inclement weather!

But driving under inclement weather conditions is a lot safer if you perform proper automobile maintenance and headlight restoration.

October is Headlight Safety Month, so it is the perfect time for drivers to address a key safety issue on America’s roads that rarely comes to light: dim headlight bulbs and hazy headlight lenses, which may lead to reduced visibility.

3M.jpg (4 documents, 4 total pages)

One solution to this problem is the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit.  Available in Pep Boys stores, this kit is designed to restore headlight lenses that are losing clear visibility. This increases the visibility capacity of fogged, yellowed, cloudy or hazy dull looking headlights by improving their performance.

I’ve had my car for 10 years, and it’s a 1999 model.  I’ve been able to keep the car in good condition for the most part, but the headlights are definitely hazy!

Here’s an example of a Before and After results of using the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit:

And not only is it effective against those hazy, yellowed headlights, but it is also very easy to use!  I usually count on my husband or my to take care of anything having to do with the car, but even I can do use this kit!

Go by your nearest Pep Boys store to pick up this kit and keep your headlights shining bright throughout the fall and winter seasons!

LifeLock: Protecting Your Identity Online

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LifeLock Facebook for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

AmeliaIZEA | skitch.com

Identity theft has been a big problem for years, but now with so much of our lives online, we are more at risk of having our identity stolen.  Through the internet, thieves can now steal your identity via phishing email, SMSishing (sending messages through your phone which look legitimate), using fake storefronts, peer-to-peer sharing sites, database breeches, or by simply taking a picture with their cell phone as you fill out a credit card application.

Here are some statistics on identity theft victims that you may not be aware of:

• Households earning $100k + per year have the highest identity fraud rate at 7.4%

• The average cost per person of having identities stolen is $1,513

• 11.6 million adults were victims of identity fraud in 2011 and a total of $18 billion was lost.

And here’s some data on identity theft among social media and smartphone users:

• 6.6% of victims are smartphone owners

• 6.8% of victims are social media users who click on the applications

• 8.2% of victims are social media users who have “checked in” using their smartphone GPS

• 10.1% of victims are LinkedIn users

If you are like me you may not have even thought about some of these scenarios.  I, for one, would have never thought about the risks of checking in with your phone’s GPS.  And I certainly wouldn’t have believed that 10.1% of LinkedIn users had been victims of identity theft.

And of course, once your are identity is stolen, they can use it to get credit cards in your name, access your bank account, seek employment, open up utilities accounts, and even apply for benefits in your name.  This can hurt your credit, your employment records, and so much more.

And just think: What if the person who steals your identity commits a more serious crime? This scenario happened to my cousin Todd.  Several years ago his identity was stolen, and then the person actually committed murder.  So when Todd went to apply for a new job, they checked his background and thought that he had killed someone!  For a while after this, he would have to put some kind of note with his job applications stating that his identity had been stolen and he was not a murderer (not exactly something that you want to add to your application). This went on for a few years. And then finally he hired a good attorney that was able to clear up his records so that it is no longer an issue.  But if he’d only had LifeLock this could have been avoided!

LifeLock’s Services

Fortunately Lifelock can protect you again identity theft.  They monitor you identity and alert you immediately if you have potential credit and non-credit threats.  They also have an online dashboard where you can see current threats.  They have 24/7 phone support, services to stop and cancel your credit and debit cards when your wallet is stolen, and they offer comprehensive recovery services if you become a victim of identity theft on our watch.

Aside from learning about LifeLock’s service and signing up for identity theft protection, you can also read some articles on identity theft and get answers to some questions you may have have about identity theft and your own online security.  For instance, How hack friendly is your password?  Lifelock has a list of the most commonly used passwords, which are easily hacked.

You can also get some great tips from LifeLock on Facebook.  Go over, check it out, and join the conversation!

Have you ever been affected or someone you know been affected by identity theft?
