Best of SSH: Summer Food Edition

Just in time for the 4th of July, here is a special Summer Food Edition of Best of SSH, complete with an appetizer, some stuff for the grill, and plenty of yummy desserts!

I’m also going to be posting a Summer Fun edition which will include some posts on Summer Party Ideas, Activities, Vacation Stuff, and some Summer Safety Posts.

I’m doing two separate posts, because I was going through last summer’s posts, and there were just too many links for one post. Plus, I have a lot more readers now than I did last year when I wrote these posts, and I want to give more people the opportunity to see them. Hope you enjoy!

Best of Simply Sweet Home

It’s been a while since I posted a collection of links from a year ago, so this seemed like a good time to do it. By the way, my husband highly recommends the Easter Egg posts. Back in January he was asking me if I was going to post a link to the Easter egg post…so I’m posting it.

He’s very supportive of the blog and he loves that I’m doing it. But he only visits my blog occasionally, and of all the posts I’ve done, the Easter eggs seem to have stuck in his mind the most, other than all the food posts, of course!

In this edition, I’ve also included a couple of other recipes and a couple of cleaning posts.

Talk to Me Tuesday: Favorite Post of 2008

I know it’s Wednesday! But this morning I was over at Tip Junkie and saw that this week’s assignment was to tell your favorite post of 2008. I already posted a list of my favorite posts a few weeks ago, but I thought it would be fun to participate. So here’s a link to my favorite post from last year: Cake Mix Cookies

Favorite Recipes of 2008

Last year I did a post, highlighting my favorite posts of 2007. This year I’m doing something a little different. I did a round up of some of my favorite recipe posts. After all, the recipes seem to get the most comments; plus, a lot of my other posts are seasonal in nature, but recipes are relevant for the entire year.

I can’t really say that I have any *absolute* favorite recipes. Then again, does anyone really have a #1 favorite recipe or even a favorite recipe post? But I felt that all of these were worthy of a second look. Happy New Year!

Cakes & Pies

Slow Cooker Hot Fudge Cake

Mini Almond Bundt Cakes

Coconut Cream Cake

Egg Custard Pie

Easy Autumn Pear Cake

Other Desserts

Apple Crisp

Peanut Butter Balls

Cake Mix Cookies

Unbaked Caramel Cookie Bars

Cinnamon Muffins

Other Recipes

Crab Appetizer Napoleons

The Best of Simply Sweet Home: The Christmas Recipe Edition

Time for more of my favorite posts from a year ago. I did a lot of Christmas recipe posts last year, and since this is Recipe Week in my little Christmas festival, I thought it would be a good time to revisit last December’s recipes.

I recommend the appetizers and the holiday poke cupcakes, but that’s just me! My husband recommends the coconut macaroons. (Unless you’re coming to my house; in which case, they’re no good. lol.)

Appetizers:
Christmas Pinwheels
Crunchy Cheese Crisps
Sausage Balls

Desserts:
Coconut Macaroons
Peppermint Brittle
Fantasy Fudge
Holiday Poke Cakes
Chocolate Bon Bons
Rudolph Cupcakes

The Best of Simply Sweet Home

Now that the site has been around for a year, I can now do “flash back” or “best of” posts. This is great! It’s fun to revisit my old posts, and it also gives me a chance to highlight these posts for new readers to take a look at for the first time.

I’m going to try to do this about once a month, and each month I’ll pick about 4 to 10 links to post up. And of course, I’ll try to pick the most relevant, interesting, and popular posts to highlight.

As with any other post I would write, if you try the links any of them are wrong, I ask you to email me (jhrivers@gmail.com or simplysweethome@hotmail.com) or leave me a comment to let me know, so that I can correct the problems. Thanks!
