I’m so excited about today’s post! Most of the time when I review hair care products or do any sort of hair related post, I talk about my natural curly hair that I work hard to tame. It’s definitely not easy, especially since I live in the South, where the humidity makes it almost impossible to maintain a controlled, frizz-free look.

Rethink Your Hair Color + A Hair Straightening Tutorial

A couple of week’s ago I discussed John Frieda Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ products. (You can check out the post here.) This product line is designed to help you easily and affordable lighten your brunette hair color at home. My hair color is medium to dark brown; I say that because my hair is dark, but I’ve always had some natural strands of blonde mixed in. When I was younger I embraced this by getting highlights at the salon. But as I discussed in my previous post, each time I went to the salon, I had to get heavier highlights (in order to really see the effect), till I eventually looked more like a blonde than a brunette. (And I’m talking about a blonde with dark roots and all, once my hair started growing.) Needless to say, this isn’t what I wanted, so I stopped getting highlights.

Since then, I’ve considered getting highlights again, but I hate the thought of spending $70 to get them, so I was very excited to hear about John Frieda Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™. Today I’ll be discussing the results that I got from using the products, and I’ve also got a tutorial for straightening curly hair.

I love spring! It is the season of renewal, and as the flowers and trees come in to bloom, we follow suit, deep cleaning and re-organizing our houses. Spring is also the perfect time to renew and freshen up our personal style. It’s a great time to update our wardrobes with spring colors and trends, and it’s a fun time to experiment with new makeup and hair styles! I know I’ve seen some really cute tops that I’d love to buy, and I’m definitely due for a hair cut soon, but this spring, I’m also rethinking my hair color. Christmas is just around the corner! Have you done all your holiday shopping yet? Our son is 15, and believe it or not, we’ve not only bought almost all of his presents, but we’ve actually already given him most of his gifts. I think it started back in October; our Etsy shop had a huge order, and we decided to splurge on a few things.

In that whole process, we decided to go ahead and buy him a computer desk that he’s been begging us for. Then his computer chair needed replacing….next we took advantage of some Black Friday clothing sales and decided to let him go ahead and have those items so that he could wear them to school, and I guess you could say that it then spiraled out of control with a video game here and a video game there, etc.

But we’re still going to get him one or two “fun gifts” and some essentials so that he will have something to open for Christmas! [Read more…]
