So many people have made Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths a must-have item for their bathrooms. As the lady of our house, I know I love them, so much so that I’ve found ways to use them go beyond the application for which they were originally intended! For example, they are great to carry along in your purse or car for those times when you find yourself in a messy or sticky situation. And if you or a loved one are sick or injured, they can be an essential aid to help clean and freshen up. Today I’ll be talking about that particular use, and I’ll show you how to set up a care station to help your sick or injured loved one have everything they need to get through their day.
A few months ago my husband broke his back when he fell of a roof. A couple of days after he broke it, he said he simply must have a shower, so, using a walker, he stumbled to the bathroom, where I assisted him in showering off. This turned out to be a terrible idea, as it put him in a tremendous amount of pain. Afterwards he said, “I hope you don’t mind, but I won’t be taking a shower for few days.”
Actually I had already anticipated this problem, because we were in a similar situation last year. You see, last year my husband had a terrible case of pancreatitis. He was in the hospital for a week, and during that time he was too weak to walk, and his feet were also in too much pain for him to walk, because he had developed neuropathy, so for much of his stay, he could only freshen up using a basin of water and some waterless bath soap they provided. When he got home, it was a long recovery process, in which my husband spent much of his time laying on the couch or sitting in the recliner. In between regular showers, I used other methods to help him freshen and get cleaned up, including Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths.
In both of my husband’s situations, he was encouraged to get up and walk as much as possible for a speedy recovery, but you know as well as I do, that this concept is often easier said than done. This is why I like the idea of setting up a table with all the essentials a sick or injured loved one might need for their day. This is an especially great thing to create for someone who lives alone or will be spending the day by himself while others are at work. And even if you work from home like me and are around to take care of a person, it is way more convenient to have these items handy and nearby.
Here’s a list of items that your “care station” or “sick table” may include:
- Medicine
- Any information and notes about medications.
- Medication schedule or log. (I generally like to keep a log where we write down the time when a medicine is taken, and then we write down the time when the next medicine should be taken. Then we update the log as needed.)
- Drinks and Snacks
- Beauty Items (like hand cream and lip balm.)
- Misc. Health & First Aid Items (Any items related to the patient’s condition: bandages, ice or heat packs, medicinal creams or ointments.)
- Entertainment Items (Remote Control, Cell Phones and Electronic Devices, and Magazines & Books)
- Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths (The sick person can use these to wipe off their hands and face after a snack or meal. And they are also great for doing a quick wipe down and freshening up when you are unable to take a traditional bath or shower.

What a great use for these cloths! I keep them in the bathroom and in my gym bag, but they will be great for when my husband has his knee surgery. [client]
