Molasses Cookie Stack

Every year I look forward to holiday baking. I usually have a list of the tried and true recipes I want to make, as well as a few new ones. Of course, I never get around to making all of them, but it’s fun thinking about it just the same. And when I do bake, I always have more than we will ever eat at our house.  No worries! For me, it just means it’s a great opportunity for gift giving and sharing.  But not everyone can eat sweets.  Have you ever given cookies or candy to someone, only to find out that they can’t eat sweet due to diabetes or other dietary restrictions?  I’ve done this a couple of times!   It’s embarrassing for you, and the even worse, the giftee is tempted to break their diet!

Enter Splenda!  A lot of people know Splenda as a no calorie sweetener for things like coffee and cereal, but what you may not  know is that Splenda actually has products especially for baking.  Their product line includes: [Read more…]

Are you ready to party for the holidays? If you’re the party hostess, this might be harder to question to answer. Personally I love hosting an appetizer party. Appetizers are generally easy to make, and you can time them so that you don’t have to do all your prep work right before the party, which takes a lot of stress off you, the hostess. Today I’m sharing a delicious party food recipe that I love, and I have some party food tips to get you through the holiday season. [Read more…]

Aunt Jemima Waffles

There’s nothing like hot waffles for breakfast… that soft, chewy confection with the crispy, crunchy edges drenched in butter and syrup, has always been a classic favorite of mine.  And Aunt Jemima makes it so easy a kid can do it.

Making Breakfast

This weekend Noah was making home made waffle in kitchen with just the push of a button.  Now that’s convenient!

These days, however, the waffle has branched out.  If you stroll the internet, you’ll find waffles topped with fruit, cream cheese, peanut butter, and even chocolate!  Waffles also make a great bread substitute for your bacon, egg, & cheese sandwich, breakfast casserole recipes, and more!  Recently I bought some Aunt Jemima Homestyle Waffles, and they inspired me to think outside the box (literally)  and recipe especially for this fall season. Halloween Fruit Cup

Halloween Fruit Cups

Today I have a super easy treat that’s also healthy, yet festive for the fall season!  This Halloween Fruit Cup is made using the little fruit cups you get from the store.  You could also use fruit from a can, frozen, or even fresh fruit, but the little fruit cups work great for a single serve dessert without any measuring.  It is great for a healthy after school snack, and it is also an easy party treat to prepare. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

I am so excited to share today’s recipe!  I originally saw these on Tidy Mom, and I’ve wanted to make them ever since!  Noah celebrated his birthday last month, and it seemed like the perfect excuse I needed to finally make them!  And I was VERY pleased with how they turned out.

I haven’t made a lot of homemade frostings, only a dozen or so, but I have to say this is my favorite homemade frosting I’ve tried, hands down!  It’s so rich and creamy….and yes! It does taste JUST like cookie dough! [Read more…]

MMs

Parties and holidays give us a great excuse to get creative with decorations and food.  But you don’t always need a special occasion to create fun and festive recipes! If you have simple ingredients on hand like M&M’s™ candies, you can turn a simple movie night into a fun-filled occasion with movie themed snacks.  Last week I used M&M’s to turn some plain ole’ sugar cookies in to some M&M’s Sugar Cookies inspired by Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier (out now on DVD and Blu-Ray).

MMs at Walmart

At our local Walmart there is an entire shelf, filled from top to bottom with M&M’s products!  Which ones doe you like?  The original and the minis are my favorites, but you could use any variety in today’s recipe.

Walmart also has a $5 off coupon for any two M&M’s products (15.4 oz or larger) and Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier DVD.  (Movie, snacks, and a deal…it’s a win-win all the way around!) [Read more…]

Frozen Raspberry Pie

Today we have our final guest post of the summer series!  Today’s comes from Amy at Joyful Daisy and she is sharing a delicious looking Frozen Raspberry Pie.  I don’t know about you, but I love pie any time of year, and this recipe certainly sounds like a dessert for all seasons!

Frozen Raspberry Pie

This delicious Frozen Raspberry Pie is a delightful mix of flavors and textures. The raspberries combined with lemon juice are so fresh, the whipped egg whites and whipped cream are so light and fluffy, and the toasted almonds in the crust adds the perfect amount of crunchiness. The other thing I love about this pie is that it can be made ahead of time. [Read more…]

Back to School with Cool WhipWhen I was a kid, I could hardly wait for an after school snack.  Often this meant stopping by to get a hamburger or ice cream on the way home from school, but there was nothing like coming home to eat a homemade dessert!  My dad used to make such yummy recipes, and he made this one chocolate layer cake that was to die for!

The Cool Whip Icing was definitely the star of the cake, so today I’m sharing this icing with you, so that you can see how adding a little Cool Whip can turn your ordinary dessert in to an extraordinary dessert! [Read more…]

Jello University Kit

My family is very excited for football season to be starting!  My husband has already explained to me that the television station will be glued to the SEC Network, so that if I don’t want to watch sports, I can plan accordingly and go to the next room. Haha!  But actually I really enjoy football and I especially love watching our team the Crimson Tide!  And I also look forward each week to game day food!

We usually order out or make something early that will last the day, and game day food is generally “man food.”  We like appetizers, especially chicken fingers and wings! But we also sometimes go for things like meatballs, sausage balls, cocktail weenies, cheesesticks, cheese fries, or chips and dip.  And other times we like simple meals like sub sandwiches, grilled burgers, chili dogs, pizza, and barbecue sandwiches. Yes, we do love to eat!

As much as I love all the salty and spicy goodness of game day, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t crave something sweet!  So today I am sharing a simple dessert that you can prepare to make your game day even sweeter!  I took my recipe for strawberry pretzel salad and turned it in to a kid-friendly game day treat: Strawberry Pretzel Parfaits.  And I added a little extra team spirit to the treat using Jell-O University Molds!
