With all the cold weather we’ve been having, I am SO ready for spring! The warmer weather gives us an excuse to get out of the house and it brings so many opportunities to entertain. Last weekend I jump started the season with a small family get together, and today I’m sharing just a few of my ideas and Easter party solutions. I hope it gives you a little inspiration.

Valentine’s Day with Oriental Trading

Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? I got everything I need for a fun and festive Valentine’s Day Party at Oriental Trading. And right now they have select Valentine’s Day Decor and party favors for 60% off.

I got these cute little Valentine tea lights. The batteries are included, and they are perfect for a little soft light for a big dinner party or more intimate gathering. Or you could even use them to light up your crafts and other Valentine decor.

For instance, the tea lights look great inside these laterns. I picked out these lanterns not just for Valentine’s Day but all year round. The Oriental Trading website had a great picture of the laterns with Easterbeggs inside them, so I’m planning to do that next. For now, I’ve placed these rose petals inside. It’s really great for Valentine’s Day and also adds a lot of warmth to your decor during the winter time.

And for party team, these paper lanterns are very colorful, fun, and festive.

And for a fun party table, I got this adorable red and white table runner, cupcake box, and plates.

Chicken Bacon Bleu Cheese Subs with Naturally Fresh Dressing + Giveaway

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! Who will you be rooting for? Regardless of who is playing, I’m always cheering for good food! One item that will definitely be on my football party supply list is Naturally Fresh Salad Dressing. Naturally Fresh offers a variety of salad dressings, dips, and other products. A couple of my favorites include their Classic Ranch and Bleu Cheese (also available in Lite versions). Big Game Snacking with Cheez-Its and Pringles + Spinach Dip Recipe

It’s hard to believe football season is almost over! But with one more game still to go, there’s still plenty of time for Big Game Snacking. Last weekend we enjoyed a small football party with family and friends and an array of food, decorations and fun!

Finding party decor and activities is as easy and affordable as 1-2-3. I used a great set of printables from Dazzle Expressions for the table decor. And for kids, there are a lot of free printable activity pages like this Football Bingo Game from Pretty Providence. My friend Ami of AliLily also has a great post of 42 Football Party Ideas which includes a great collection of party games and activity sheets, as well printable decorations. And then I just got a simple green table cloth and few other party supplies from Walmart to decorate the table. Easy peasy!

As for food, I make parties easy with a couple of savory appetizers or main course items. Last week we had a pizza and some Chicken, Bacon, Ranch Subs. But on other occasions, I’ve served chicken tenders, wings, meatballs, little sausages, cheese sticks, and other tasty appetizers. And then apart from that, I MUST have at least kind of dip to serve. And where there’s dip, there has to be something to eat with the dip. Enter Cheez-Its and Pringles!

Our pantry is always stocked with various flavors of these tasty snacks. Not only does our son love them, but so do my husband and I. And both snacks are very affordable! [Read more…]

Hot Cocoa Muddy Mix

I’ve never been a “go out on New Year’s Eve” kind of person. I’d much rather than stay home. It’s way less crowded! But what I do love, is to have plenty of appetizers and snacks to help celebrate the occasion. The night wouldn’t be the same without them! This year for the sweet side, I made this Hot Cocoa Muddy Mix.

I’ve made a few different Muddy Mix recipes (or Puppy Chow if you will): Peppermint Muddies, Cheesecake Muddy Mix. and Strawberry Cheesecake Muddy Mix.

I love this stuff because I can make it in about 10 minutes or less! It is also a very festive snack that you can change up with just an ingredient or two (like my linked examples above).

I’ve enjoy each muddy mix I’ve tried, but I think this my new favorite! I looked at a few recipes for inspiration, and then I threw this together….I called myself making a “half batch” since a lot of recipes instruct you to use 6 or 7 cups of Chex Cereal (basically the entire box), but even my half batch made a pretty big bowl of stuff; I’d say it’s enough for 2 to 4 people. It’s definitely enough if it’s just you, your spouse, and a couple of kids. (Then again, this stuff DOES stay good for a few days, so even if you’re not having a party and just want a little extra for you and your family, by all means, feel free to double the recipe!) Do you ever struggle to find unique recipes and foods for your holiday party? Personally I love eating anything and everything around the holiday season, from mouthwatering, savory apps to turkey & dressing, but it can be quite easy to get tired of the “same ole menu” year after year. Personally I love appetizers for our football parties and of course, New Year’s Eve, and although I have a lot of different teams I can make, every now and then I have to break out of the rut and try something new. Today I’m sharing a fun idea that you can incorporate in to your holiday party, namely your appetizer parties, although the concept can easily be applied to a sit-down dinner party.
