I love decorating my home inside and out. Earlier in the year, I showed some gardening projects my husband and I were work on. I’m very excited to have my puppy girl assistant Shadow helping me out with today’s post! It celebrates something that is very near and dear to Shadow’s heart: Food and Treats! When it comes to her diet, Shadow, can be quite finicky, so we have certain go-to foods and treats that we always give her, but because we love “treating” her, we are always purchasing new products for her to try, and of course, I always welcome the opportunity to let her sample and review new products.

Most recently, Shadow had the chance to try SmartBones®. SmartBones from PetMatrix are a healthy alternative to Rawhide. They are easily digestible and will help your pet to maintain healthy teeth and gums. And because Shadow actually ate them, I know they must taste good too!

Before we learn more about the treats here are a couple of things about rawhide and why you should look for alternatives to rawhide bones and treats. Rawhide is the inner hide from a cow or other animal that has undergone chemical processing to remove hair and other materials. The rawhide is then ground or used whole, and is formed into various dog chew shapes. I’m so excited about today’s post! Most of the time when I review hair care products or do any sort of hair related post, I talk about my natural curly hair that I work hard to tame. It’s definitely not easy, especially since I live in the South, where the humidity makes it almost impossible to maintain a controlled, frizz-free look.

Sick Just Got Real and a $25 Visa Giveaway

If you’re a parent you know what it is like to have a sick child. When they babies, it is especially a terrible experience because they can’t tell you what is wrong, and that makes it all the more scary for you. Even as they get to be school age and can tell you what’s wrong with complaints like “my tummy aches,” the feeling of helplessness never truly goes away. Even when it’s just strep throat or a simple virus that’s been going around, you’d give just about anything to make them feel better, and yet all you can really do is provide them with the prescribed medicine (and a little bit of TLC).

I recently watched this video from the Sick Just Got Real^TM campaign. It’s called, “A Mom Can Dream.” And it goes inside a ladies head, as she dreams of all the things she’d rather be doing, from drinking a glass of wine to having just a moment alone in the bathroom, until she is reminded of the most important thing of all, having children who are well. Today we have another fun post starring the Simply Sweet Home Cats! Yay! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE my baby cats and would do anything for them. And I have to say, I think I’m very lucky to have a couple of really good-natured and well behaved cats! But like all relationships, a relationship between a cat mommy and her cats can get quite interesting! For example, my sweet Sugar cat likes to cuddle, but only on her terms, and she will give you a very small love bite when she’s ready to stop. Meanwhile, Rebels love to lounge around, and he often chooses to make clothing, backpacks, purses, and anything that’s new his bed (and every now & then he likes to scratch on things)! [Read more…]
