Tax season is in full swing! While the task of getting your documents organized and actually filing on time can be quite daunting, a lot of us can find peace of mind knowing that one day a lovely refund check (or electronic refund) will be headed our way! So let’s think about that refund for a moment. How would/will you spend yours? There are so many options, from redecorating the homestead to investing in a new cell phone! Today I will explore just a few.
1. Pay off debts and bills. One of the most responsible (albeit less fun) ways to spend your refund or any extra money you may have is by paying off a bill or a debt. If you can get an old debt off your plate, then by all means go for it!
2. Home Improvements & Decor. We personally don’t have a lot of money, so anytime a little “extra” comes along I like to make improvements here and there. If you’re expecting a big refund, this could mean upgrading your bathroom or buying a new living room or bedroom suite. For those with smaller incomes you may just want to do a little painting around the house, put up some new curtains, or purchase a new bedspread.
3. Stuff for the Kids. Must-have items for the kids are never far from my mind. My stepson will soon be needing new school clothes, and we also have to pay school tuition for next year, not to mention next year’s band trip and a whole host of other expenses that will be coming up (including a car for him to drive, as he’ll be turning 15 year! Eek!).
4. A trip. I don’t know about you, but it’s a been a long time since I went on a trip. I can see myself now at a nice cabin in the mountains or taking a walk on the beach! Even the smallest of refunds is enough to buy a one or two night’s stay at a hotel if you just wanted a weekend away.
5. Get a new tech device like a Walmart Family Mobile cell phone. For me, a new cell phone is the best of both world’s in terms of want and need. It is a necessity for blogging and other business purposes, but it is also something for fun and leisure.
Walmart Family Mobile offers excellent 4G coverage in my area at such an amazing price! You can get a talk and text plan for $29.88 and an unlimited talk, text, and web plan for $39.88. And like other leading cell phone carriers and plans, I have the option to pay online or via phone.
I recently purchased the ZTE ZMAX Phablet. This phone is awesome! Originally priced at $199.99, it is now available for $179.99, and in my opinion, it definitely rivals the leading smart phones and mini tablets out there. It’s 5.7″ HD screen is perfect for checking my emails, texts, and social media, as well as surfing the web. And unlike a lot of affordable phones I’ve had in the past, this one has an awesome 8 MP camera, with tons of great options and setting to help you get the best photos and videos possible (definitely a must-have feature for bloggers).
You can find a full selection of available Walmart Family Mobile phones and Startup Kits at or near the electronics counter and your local Walmart.
If you’re looking for something extra affordable right now, they also have their ZTE Zinger 19.84 (down from $39.88).
All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change.
Do you have any plans for spending your tax return this year? I’d love hear your ideas!
After paying off a few bills we always love using any leftovers for a trip. Even if it’s a small long weekend staycation. #client
