Have you ever visited Gardenieres? It is a fantastic site featuring great projects and tips for your garden.
Is there a garden project you would like to take on this fall? I checked out the project videos over at Gardenieres, and one of my favorite ideas is to to plant an orchard. In the following video Teena tells you a little bit about the foods in her orchard:
I have always thought it would be great to grow some of our own food in the back yard. When I was a kid, we grew corn and tomatoes in our yard for a little while, and I always had relatives who grew various crops.
Today my dad has some apple trees and pear trees in his yard. And we have a pecan tree in our own back yard. Last year I picked up some pecans from our back yard and used them in my cakes. It would be great to add some apple or pear trees to our own yard. I imagine it would make for some great baking ingredients!
Miracle-Gro has great products to help you out with any gardening project you have in mind! Miracle-Gro® Garden Soil for Trees & Shrubs can help you to grow your own orchard.
Just mix with one part native soil and build a mound in the hole and score roots. Water thoroughly after planting your tree or shrub, then daily until plants are well established. Cover area with mulch.
