Hello! I'm your new follower thought Marketing Mondays! Great site! Visit me at http://www.rockindeals4you.com and sign up for my first giveaway!
Yum! By the way the name comes from the amount of ingredients used to make the cake (a cupful of flour, a cupful of butter, cupful of sugar etc.).
—This is very similar to how pound cake was named. In fact, the recipes for cup cakes and pound cakes include pretty much the same ingredients and would have produced similar results.
What about:
Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting
4 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
4 drops yellow food coloring
Beat cream cheese and butter in a bowl until combined. Beat in powdered sugar and lemon juice.
Beat in 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 cups more of powdered sugar till frosting is of spreading consistency. Stir in a few drops of yellow food coloring.
Note: I added a bit more lemon juice to make it extra lemony. If you do this, just add a little more powdered sugar too.

I've never made a lemon buttercream, but I hope you found a great recipe. It sounds delicious!
