Love Your Curls with Dove Hair

At an early age, I became famous in my family for my natural curls.  Below is a photo of my curls and me at the age of 3:

Of course, every naturally curly-haired girl wants to have straight hair, so when I got to be school aged, I told my mom I wanted long, straight hair!  She let me grow it out, and for years we went through the blow dry and straightening routine, but being from the South, my straight hair would turn to frizz in no time!  We even used rollers to give me a “stylized curly look” whenever I wanted to look really great for school pictures, dates, or special occasions.

Then one day when I was 18, I was getting my hair done for a wedding, and the lady who did my hair asked me if I had naturally curly hair.  When I replied, “Yes,” she asked if it would be okay to do my hair naturally curly.  I complied, and I was actually AMAZED at the results.  My mom had been drying and straightening my hair since I was 6 or 7 years old, and I truly had no idea how good my hair would look naturally curly.  (Nor did I realize just how quick and EASY it is for me to fix!)

From then on, I began embracing my curly hair!  Although I still like to straighten it and wear it in a variety of ways, going naturally curly is the easiest way for me to get my hair looking great, and I always receive more compliments on my hair when I go naturally curly!

Now the makers of Dove Hair are getting curly-haired girls like me to celebrate their curly locks with the Dove #LoveYourCurls Emoji Keyboard!

In today’s world, just about everyone has a cell phone and is on at least one social media platform, and along with the fun of text messages, Tweets, and Instagrams comes the use of emojis.  It is said that 74% of people use emojis every day, but in the world of emojis,  straight hair dominates!

So the people at Dove Hair put their heads together and created this great new app featuring curly-haired emojis!

Now all the curly-haired ladies and girls like me can find an emoji that looks like you, and they can truly express themselves!

And for more added fun, Dove Hair will also be partnering with Twitter so each time women and girls share a #LoveYourCurls moment, a custom Dove Curly Emoji will appear in the tweet.
