Spring is finally here, and swimsuit season is just around the corner! A well-balanced and low-calorie diet, along with exercise can help you get in shape and stay in shape for the summer season, but it is not easy to give up the foods and drinks we love. The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group is here to help with their Four TEN products are. Full of flavor and only ten calories per serving, the Core Ten products are a great low-calorie alternative to your favorite drink. The TEN beverages include 7UP, Sunkist, A&W, and Canada Dry.
The TEN beverages are available at your local Walmart. (Availability of each variety may vary from store to store.) I recently picked up a few of these myself. Not only are they are a great tasting, ten calorie drink, but they are also a great ingredient for low-calorie recipes.
The Ten drinks make it easy for you to serve up guilt-free snacks and party foods, including cakes ice cream sodas! Today I’m sharing a few things that I whipped up using two of the TEN products: Sunkist TEN and Canada Dry TEN.
We start with a little cake, and then move on to a parfait, a float, and punch!
Recipe for Orange Angel Food Cake:
Ingredients:
- Angel food cake mix
- 12 oz can (or 1 1/2 cups) Sunkist Ten soda
- 8 oz. container low fat cool whip
Directions: Add orange soda to angel food cake mix. Bake according to directions on box. Cover baked cake with whipped topping and serve.
Orange Angel Food Parfait:
Ingredients:
- Orange Angel Food Cake (from above recipe)
- Low Fat Whipped Topping
- Low Fat Vanilla Ice
- Sunkist Ten
- Cookie for garnish
Directions: Bake Orange Angel Food Cake according to recipe above. Take a slice of cake and cut in to cubes or crumbles. Layer together in a glass with a couple of scoops of low fat ice cream. Pour a small amount of Sunkist Ten if desired for more flavor. Garnish with whipped topping and a gingersnap or shortbread cookie.
Recipe for Orange Dream Float:
Ingredients:
- Low fat vanilla ice cream
- Sunkist 10
Directions: Pour half a can of Sunkist 10 over a few scoops of low fat vanilla ice cream for a perfect orange dream float. Or use other Ten varieties to make your favorite low-calorie float.
Recipe for Orange Punch:
Ingredients:
- 1.5 quart to 1/2 gallon of Orange Sherbet
- 1 2-liter bottle of Canada Dry Ten OR 7Up Ten
Directions: Place orange sherbet in punch bowl. Add Canada Dry TEN or 7up Ten. Give mixture a little stir. Let set. As the Sherbet melts, it is the perfect consistency for a chilled, foamy punch. For a single serving, use 2 or 3 scoops of Sherbet and pour over half a cup to a cup of Canada Dry TEN or 7up TEN.
These four treats are just a few examples of low-fat, low-calorie desserts you can indulge in and still stay trim. Just stick with small portions and remember to use
