About Us
I’m Lydia, the new author of Simply Sweet Home. I’ve known Jerri my whole life through my mother, a close friend of hers, and I’ve always admired the warmth, faith, and dedication she brings to her home and community.
But after doing this for over a decade, Jerri decided to step back to focus on her family and faith, and she started volunteering at an animal shelter
Knowing the blog had grown into a special community, she entrusted me to continue its mission with care and authenticity.

So hi, I’m Lydia Louise Porter.
I just got my master’s degree in English lit. I live in Boston with my foster cat – Smoothie.
I approach life with a fresh, modern outlook, and mean to live it to the fullest. I come from a family of mixed ethnicities – Americans and British.
I’m passionate about home, lifestyle, and personal growth. There’s nothing I enjoy more than finding creative and practical ways to make life simpler, more joyful, and more deeply connected to the people around me.
Here, I share tips for home organization, easy and flavorful meals, DIY projects, and ideas to create a warm environment.
My aim is to bring my own perspective – a youthful, contemporary voice that is a shadow of the values Jerri has instilled.
Simply Sweet Home remains a space for inspiration, connection, and practical guidance, bridging cherished traditions with modern living.
And as Jerri once said, and I quote, “And though I am, by no means perfect and do not have the perfect home, nor the perfect life, I hope that you can learn something from what I have to share.”
So welcome aboard!
