Did you know March 14 is Pi Day? Yes, Pi, as in 3.14. This is the perfect day to celebrate your love for math! And even if you don’t love math, you can still celebrate by eating a little pie with us! I am celebrating Pi Day this year with Marie Callender’s, and I’m really excited to share there products with you today!
As I looked through the freezer section at Marie Callender’s selection of hearty pot pies and sweet dessert pies, I had such a hard time picking just one, that I ended up leaving with a pot pie, two desserts, and even a breakfast pie!
Marie Callender’s has a fabulous line of pot pies. Their varieties include:
- Chicken Corn Chowder Pot Pie
- Creamy Parmesan Chicken Pot Pie
- Cheesy Chicken & Bacon Pot Pie
- Beef Pot Pie
- Chicken Pot Pie
- Turkey Pot Pie
- Creamy Mushroom Chicken Pot Pie
I decided to try their Chicken Pot Pie. This pie comes in 10 oz and 16 oz size. It’s ingredients include tender white-meat chicken, carrots, celery, and peas prepared in a golden, flaky crust made from scratch. Chicken Pot Pies are my favorite, and this one is delicious. I liked the size of this pie. The 10 oz. is a good size for my lunch, and if you’re a little more hungry, the 16 oz. or two 10 oz. pies would be perfect. I was also impressed by the quality and taste of the vegetables; they seemed very fresh. And the pie was comforting.
And of course, you can’t celebrate pie day without some dessert pie! Marie Callender’s line of dessert pies include the following:
- Banana Cream Pie
- Coconut Cream Pie
- Peanut Butter Cream Pie
- Lemon Meringue Pie
- Peppermint Pie
- Key Lime Pie
- Chocolate Satin Pie
- Turtle Pie
- I Love Chocolate Cream Pie
I was actually hoping to check out their Peanut Butter Pie, but since they didn’t have this at my store, I decided to go with the Peppermint Pie. I’ve actually been eyeing it since Christmas, and this was the perfect excuse to try it out! And I’m very happy I did! This pie has a chocolate cookie base, which I love! And then it has a creamy peppermint filling and is topped with whipped topping and chocolate curls.
And I have to tell you, my photo doesn’t do the pie justice at all. I actually goofed and let it melt a little before I took the photo. But the pie looks very lovely, just like the one on the box.
And this is a seasonal pie, but I think it would be delicious any time of a year, and it would go great alongside a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, or even a cold glass of milk. And finally, if you love pie, but prefer a single serving size option, Marie Callender’s has a line of mini pies. They have mini versions of their Chocolate Satin, Coconut Cream, and Key Lime.
Because I’m a chocolate fiend, and because my store didn’t have the Chocolate Satin Pie in the family size, I decided to try out the Mini Version. I LOVED this! It has a chocolate cookie base and chocolate filling that is basically like a chocolate mousse, and then it’s topped with whipping topping and chocolate curls. These come two to a package, and it’s a good thing because if you’re like me, you probably won’t want to share, and you will definitely want a second pie for later!
Marie Callender’s also has a couple of breakfast pies. One is Sausage, Gravy & Egg Breakfast Pie, and the other is a Ham, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Pie. I tried the Ham, Egg, & Cheese Breakfast Pie, and I thought it was just delicious. Again, this 10 oz pie was the perfect size for for one, and it features Marie Callender’s® signature, golden, flaky made-from-scratch crust filled with scrambled eggs, potatoes, ham and cheese. It was a really great blend of flavors and I was especially suprised and pleased with the fresh potatoes in the pie (as opposed to hashbrowns).
